I cant get the footrest down into lock position, it is too hard.

Can it be adjusted?

No adjustments. What you can do is flip it over. extend the foot rest. See all those metal arms? they are all supposed to be straight and in line. I had a lot of kids, So I had to do this often. Till one of the arms broke.

The park interlock cable is part of the brake/shift lever interlock system. Correct cable adjustment is important to proper interlock operation. The gear shift and park lock cables must both be correctly adjusted in order to shift out of PARK.

ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURE

1. Remove floor console as necessary for access to the park lock cable.

2. Shift the transmission into the PARK position.

3. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Be sure ignition key cylinder is in the LOCK position. Cable will not adjust correctly in any other position.
NOTE: If the key will not turn to the LOCK position, pull up on the cable lock button and manually move the cable in and out until the key can be turned to the LOCK position.

4. Pull cable lock button up to release cable, if necessary.

5. Remove and discard the cable adjuster lock pin, if a new cable is being installed.

6. Ensure that the cable is free to self-adjust by pushing cable rearward and releasing.

7. Push lock button down until it snaps in place. The lock should be 1-2mm below the surface of the cylindrical portion of the cable

The hood is hard to close


Sounds like your hood release locking mechanism is gummed up..it is the part on the car that the hood locking bar fits into..it also is attached to the hood release..have someone operated the hood release while you use a carb lineage spay on the hood release..keep doing it until the mechanism works smoothly..once that is done spray some WD40 on it..then from then add it to your service reminder to oil it up....good luck..

2001 dodge caravan ignition lock replaced. now i cant get the key to turn past the off possition to get the key out.


if i had to guess i would say its not adjusted right lock to switch arm not in right position

The La-Z-Boy footrest is fully up or down when it used to operate in 3 different positions. I found some small springs and pins on the floor. Do you have any pictures or explanation of how this ratcheting...


Best thing to do would be find a store that sells them and go look at one. Take a digital camera with you. Raise the foot rest and inspect it from the underside. They might not let you turn it over. Take pictures of the mechanics.

Gear shift is real hard shifting into park position

The trunk of my car doesn,t shut properly...you have to slam it really hard for it to close properly. I,ve tried W-D40 but that only helped a little. Any sugestions, 98 hona accord


Two possibilities:1) The latch part (the one installed in the chassis, not on the lid) has adjusting screws, these might have become loose, pushed down, and the lid part cant reach it when you close it. 2) The remote cable lid opener might be stuck on the open position, not allowing the lid to lock. Check the remote tab by the driver´s side for freedom of movement, and proper return to rest position.

Seat Position Cant be moved


The manual lever to release the seat is supposed to have a spring on it to return the release lever to the lock position, if the lever does not spring back when you let go of the seat adjustment lever then you know there is a missing, dis-connected, or broken return spring.

If this is the case try putting the seat where you want it to be and make sure that the adjustment lever returns to the lock position, now check to see if the seat will lock in with the adjustment lever in the lock position.

If it does lock in repair or replace the return spring.

Make sure that the adjustment lever is attached to the locking linkage and it does move the locking mechanism.

If it still does not lock into place then there is something wrong with the seat locking mechanism, and some WD-40 sprayed onto the seat rails and track might release a stuck mechanism, and if everything seems to be working alright, and you can see that the locking mechanism in the seat rail is moving in and out of the lock position, then the locking tabs are most likely sheered off and you will need to replace the seat.

Also look under the drivers side seat and compare the lever position and the linkage connections with the passenger side seat, and make sure that it is all operating like the drivers side seat.

How are the rear brakes on a 92 Loyale 4-wd adjusted?


On most cars the adjustments to rear brake shoes are done automatically using the parking brake. Once you install your drum, pull the parking brake lever up sveral times, there is a mechanism that rachets up the brake adjuster. You would have seen these if you took the shoes off to install the new cylinder. You have to do that until the parking brake can just pull the lever up in to locking position.

What are the transmission band adjustment for a 1995 v6 3.0 dodge caravan


The proper fluid for that Tranamiaaion is Mopar ATF Plus 3 Type 7176. I recommend using it as I have found it does make a difference.

LOW-REVERSE BAND:
  1. Loosen, then back off lock-nut approximately five turns.
  2. Tighten adjusting screw to 41 in.lb.
  3. Back adjusting screw off 3½ turns, then tighten lock-nut to specifications
KICK DOWN BAND
The kick down band adjusting screw is located on the left side, top front of the trans-axle case.
  1. Loosen lock-nut and back off nut approximately five turns. Ensure adjusting screw turns freely in the trans-axle case.
  2. Using tool No. C-3880-A and adapter tool No. C-3705 , or equivalents, tighten band adjusting screw to72 in.lb.
  3. Back adjusting screw off 2¼ turns, then holding screw in position, tighten lock-nut to specifications.

Steering Wheel Locked


Being a locksmith for ten years, I have been aquainted with a number of occasions where the steering wheel gets locked up.
Always start with the least expensive option.
Question:

I'm sure this sounds silly but, have you tried turning the wheel hard right and hard left? You wouldn't believe how many times people have their tires turned to the right or left, which binds the ignition switch to the point that you can't turn the key to start the vehicle.

If the steering is in a rotational bind it can also bind the "U" joint in the steering column.

Check to make sure that you can actually operate the key cylinder and start the vehicle.

If you can operate the key cylinder of the ignition and start the vehicle, try rotating the steering wheel with the engine running, and see if that will unlock your "U"joint adjuster.

If you do all of the above and it's still unable to be adjusted, you will have to have a locksmith replace the universal joint rod in the steering column.

The main reason for these joints to fail is due to people driving with the column in an attitude of either up from the straight position, or down from the straight position.

The column is "designed" to operate from any position, BUT it causes the joint to fail due to prolonged use in an either up or down position while driving. The adjustable wheel is great for getting into and out of the vehicle, but it should always be driven in a totally straight position with NO upward or downward slant to the steering column.

I hope this will solve your problem economically.
