There s a spring inside the hydraboost unit to push the pedal back. Sounds like it has broken. Most likely going to have to replace the whole unit.

Why does my ABS light stays on and sometimes i get a vibration in the brake petal causing my 2002 Cadillac escalade not wanting to stop?

Sounds like a fault with the Antilock Braking System. The vibration in the pedal is the ABS working. With your foot on the brake pedal, it releases and re-applies the brakes to stop a skid from the wheels locking up. You need professional service for brakes.

Seems to be a known issue on all Cadillac and requires the ABS module to be replaced.

ABS CHECK LIGHT DOESNT COME ON WHEN YOU TURN KEY ON

1. I would not be concerned because if there was a failure in the ABS you would definitely get an ABS warning light and the ABS and most likely the stability control/traction control systems (with added warning lights) will all switch off .

2. You can test if the ABS is operational. On a very quiet damp surface, straight, wide road( with NO other cars around), apply your brakes hard from a very low speed - up to 20 mph ONLY driving in a straight line - until the car stops. The front brakes should attempt to lock up under hard braking and if the ABS is operational you will feel it kick in and the brake pedal will pulsate as the ABS constantly allows brake pressure and then releases it to prevent the wheels from locking up on the damp road. If the ABS does not kick in be ready to release the brake pedal quickly to allow the wheels to rotate so you can steer the car safely. Without the ABS the front wheels should begin to lock up on the damp road surface due to the low level of tire grip. ONLY test this at very low speed and ONLY when driving in a straight line on a straight section of wide road with no other vehicles around.

Rav4 intermittant hard pedal

If the ABS system were the problem, the ABS warning light should come on.
So I would say the problem is with the vac booster. The booster is between the pedal and the master cylinder. It uses vac to boost the pressure applied to the master cylinder by your foot.
You may have to leave the vehicle with a mechanic to drive until the problem occurs.

97 f350 diesel, abs light(on the dash) began blinking and when i parked the truck when i went back to it could not get it out of the parked position. would the abs light have something to do with that

Sounds like the abs system has failed and the brakes are applied. The abs system applies pressure to the wheels when needed to prevent wheel spin. If the equalizer valve sticks or the system is not able to release the brakes will lock on.
I would start with a scan for trouble codes.

The left rear wheel is locked up

This can be caused by a defective anti lock brake system ABS for short, this year has active ABS, this means the system can apply hydraulic pressure to the brakes with the driver never touching the brake pedal, if the valve that controls this pressure to the wheel leaks or sticks the brakes will lock up. To confirm this release pressure at the wheel by opening the brake caliper bleeder valve at the top of the brake caliper with the engine off. If the wheel spins free after the pressure is released you will need the ABS checked and quite possibly a new ABS hydraulic control unit. This type of failure is very rare but it does happen

I replace all new rotors and new shoes and 2 months later why is the abs on when i was driving all the time now i smell smoke right rear side and all three look brand new not the right side

You mostlikely have a caliper or float pins on the caliper bracket sticking. It could be a problem with the hose. Raise the wheel and have someone apply the brakes, they should lock the wheel and release when the brake pedal is released. If it does not release with the pedal then crack open the bleeder to that wheel, if they release then replace the hose. If they are still tight then remove the caliper and inspect the floating pins, if they are free then replace the caliper. After you get the wheel working properly like the other three if you still have the ABS light coming on you will need to have the codes checked to see why the light is on.

What is abs how it function

ABS is anti-lock braking system. It is a range of four sensors which monitor the braking capability when you apply the brakes. If you are harsh and stamp on the brake pedal there is a risk of the wheels locking up and sliding (screeching from the tires).

The ABS sensors modulate the brake caliper pistons andapply and let go the brakes very quickly. This stops the tires from skidding and you will feel a pulse through the brake pedal as the hydraulic system is forced to release the pedal slightly for a fraction of a second.

As ABS stops your car from skidding it allows you to turn the steering when you are braking hard. This is good news for avoiding accidents. If you lock the wheels on a non ABS car, you continue in the direction of the wheels - unless you release the brakes and reapply quickly (same method as ABS) this is called cadence braking but when involved with a potential accident the last thing on people's minds is to release the brake pedal. Having only owned older cars, cadence braking is one method I've learned, especially from driving in the snow.

I hope this helps you and please vote for me :)

2001.5 Dodge Ram Diesel 2500 4x4 Brake Pedal drops to floor

It sounds like you have a bad mastercylinder cause when you panic brake it doesn't have time to bleed through the valve in the cylinder but under normal braking your foot is on pedal longer in turn giving the fluid time to bypass the valve in the mastercylinder in turn the pedal going to the floor.
