How do I disconnect the chime from automatic door .Had to cut cable as it jammed . Took out fuse but radio and clock now do not work .Can I disconnect wire from chimes .I knoe it comes from speakers .

try this
disconnect battery
undo the fuse box and look at the wires behind that fuse you pulled

check that only radio and clock wiring are fitted there

the chime may its own power source

i could be wrong
i thought chime was separate to sound system speakers
and comes from a small but loud sound device on the instrument panel circuit board ..much like a computer

How do we disable the door ajar chime? My driver side KIA Spectra 2002 door won't fully close following a recent collision and between now and repairs, I'd like to disable the annoying chime or...

You have to pull the door panel off. Then there are a couple of plugs that go to the door latch mounted on the jam. One of the plugs is for the chime. Pull it, but you might have to put a jumper wire in the plug. I work on a lot of different cars and seen them work both ways. So I am not entirely sure how yours works. Unplug it and if it goes off your done. if it doesn't, use a jumper wire in the plug.

My door chime wont stop ringing when the driver side door is open and the keys are out of the ignition. how can i fix this?

I just found out that the problem on our 1998 windstar was the chime switch attached to the ignition switch. This chime switch when dislodged will short and act as if the keys are still on when the door is open ( thus sounding off the alarm). I had a hunch that the problem was close to the steering wheel because the alarm would stop if I change the angle of the steering wheel a couple of notches up or down. I guess when i did that the chime switch that i'm pertaining to get reset to the right position and stops the alarm. when i opened up the steering wheel housing around the ignition , the chime switch fell, it had a blk wire I think, and I saw that the clips on it were kind of melted thus not sticking to its right position. I just had to remove the ignition switch for a while and replaced the chime switch with the help of a zip tie wrapped around it. then I placed every part back together and no chimes... also I did this all while the battery was disconnected because i needed the ignition switch to be in the on position to get it off the steering wheel. Good luck guys!

Find the wire under the seat and disconnect it, or pull the fuse (just make sure the fuse is not operating anything else).

Chime goes off

Open the drivers door and look at the hindge area and you will see a black rubber accordian tube between the door and the pillar. This is the protective cover for the wiring harness. Now take a screw driver and stick it into the latch that latches when u close the door and trip the latch. Now start up the vehicle and wiggle the black tube and see if you can duplicate the concern. If so then pull the cover back and inspect the wires for a broken wire. these models are bad for this happening.

lol...about the husband thing.....first the negative side of the battery is black.....and has a minus sign next to it.

the door chime is usually located under the dash next to the fuse panel. to locate it you can put your key in the ignition and open the driver door so the chime is activated then follow the noise. thatll show you where it is......in some cases you can remove it by just pullin on it a little bit and you will feel it get looser...in most cases there will be a small clip that has to be pulled away from the chime itself....itll be a small box. to clean the contact you can use electrical contact cleaner (you can get that from your local automotive store) then just remember how you took it out so you can put it back in.

tell me how you do :)

ps. it only goes in one way ...if that makes you feel more confident bout doin it....if u have any questions let me know.
