the arms going to the wipers are broken they are called the transmission arms see if there is a clip that holds them to the motor or maybe a bolt has worked its way loose if not replace the transmission for the wipers

It's actually no where near as bad as you may think. And only requires basic tools.
1st remove the wiper arms.
2nd remove the cowel cover. I suggest slowly pulling from the one corner then working your way to the center. When you replace the cover try to make sure everything is lined up as it can be a pain to put back on if the holding clamps are not ligned up.
3rd remove the lower deck/lid/cowel. Pretty simple again basic sockets, just make sure to keep all the bolts in order as you have short and long ones(bolts) maybe taking a colored marker, tape, what ever to mark which bolts are short or long.
4th unplug the wiper motor wiring harness.
5th remove the deck/lid
Once it's out you can remove the wiper motor.
I do suggest marking the arm positions though and doing and turning the new motor on prior to bolting everything back togethor so you can make sure the the 'wiper rods' are clear and won't hit against anything.
