SOURCE: transmission fluid check on a vw jetta tdi

Never ever bring a jetta to a volkwagen dealer. They will bend you over and rape you.

All you have to do is remove the top plug with a hex wrench.

SOURCE: steps for replacing wiper motor for 1998 VW Jetta

remove wipers. remove plastic covering by loosening plastic screws first. unplug wiper motor wires. there are about three 10mm nuts at the motor location and you also have to unscrew the big nuts that were below the wipers when you unscrewed them. replacement is reversal.

SOURCE: wipers do not work in intermittent position. They do work in low and high speeds but do not automatically return to the park position. They stop wherever you turn the switch off.

i belive that your wiper switch has gone out on the intermittent side. this is a very common problem.
I hope this helps you

SOURCE: 2006 vw jetta tdi service engine light reset

With the key in the ignition (but not turned), press and hold the Odometer Reset Button on the right hand side of the panel. While still holding that button, turn the key (although not far enough to start the engine) and then press and hold the Minute button on the left side of the instrument pane(if pressing doesnt work try turning the knob clockwise until service light has gone off and skip the pressing)l. Release both buttons at the same time.

1998 vw jetta wippers only have high speed & won!t park

Sounds a lot like the switch itself.
However the park function on all that have demonstrated this problem ,my last VW was a beatle, is handled by a switch box attached to the wiper motor. Themotor typicaly must be removed to open and clean the contacts inside theswitch box. Search the part and picture should show this enclosure on cylindrical motor. May be easiest to just replace. 2000 VW Jetta.. Wipers will only come up 3 inches and then back down doing this all the time even when wipers are off. Had to take fuse out to stop them. Need wipers as it is raining. :(

New wiper motor needed the self park control is up the creek without a paddle,as its a 2000 model you may be able to repair it if you take the motor off and look under the gearbox cover you will find some copper strips ,this is the self park ? it may be easier to find another motor in the scrapyard
