You need a new ignition switch. Not the key tumbler but the electrical switching box. I have repaired quite a few of these but a new one may less frustrating for the average mech.

Car won't start. 2000 Nissan Sentra. Key fob won't open doors. Actual key opens driver side door. Car dings when the key is in position 1 but stops dinging in 2 position and beyond. No start

The key or key fob is matched to the ECU and if not working or the wrong master key, the ignition will not work.
I should seek help from a Nissan Dealer.

97 Nissan quest wont start red security light blinking

The Security Indicator Light illuminates to indicate that the security system is either working properly or to let you know that there is a fault in the system.
If the Security Indicator Light is flashing with the key out of the ignition lock and accessory position, this is a normal sign that the alarm and the immobilizer system is active.
While starting the car or key in the "run" position, the security lamp should illuminate briefly then go out. This a "bulb check" and is also normal.
If the Security Indicator Light is on steady with the key in the "run" position, and the vehicle won't start, there could be a fault with the system. In this case, the first thing to try is a different key to see if this starts the vehicle. If it starts, the key is faulty or the system has a problem with that key. If you are still getting a no-start with the light on steady, the system is at fault and will need to be inspected.

2004 nissan frontier cylinder wont crank over sometimes

First thing to check would be the starter solenoid-mounted on the starter. In the starting circuit, that is the most high use/high wear item. A tech would wait for the no start condition, then check the solenoid wire for power when key is held in the cranking position. If power is there, it indicates a faulty solenoid. If no power, trace the signal back to the ignition switch-from solenoid to starter relay to clutch switch to ignition switch.
There are contact points (plates, really) inside the solenoid that become pitted and burned from use, and eventually wear down or out.

Key will not stay in place it has to be held

Ballast ignition system, in normal run position the ignition runs through a resistor, when the starter is running the resistor is bypassed to boost the power to the ignition to give a better start up. If the resistor has failed the enging will only run with the key in the start position, can't help with it's location not that familiar with the Honda set up, the Rover equivelent was low down on the front panel, they get warm so it was in an airflow area. Hope this helps.

Runs while key is being held on. as soon as you release key to driving derections. jeep stop runing. can any one help me.

I don't quite understand what you mean by be held on. Normally you "hold on" to the key to start it and let it go back to the on position. If you have to hold the key on (start position) then you can might not be starting. The starter is turning the engine, but the engine not running? What happens when you give it gas?

may need to remove the engine cover to see it. it is held down with allen key bolts.
