Question about 2006 Chevrolet Uplander

1 Answer

I have a 2006 Chevy Uplander, 165,000 kms, started hesitating going from 1-2nd gear. On the highway, going 100 km/hr, would rev but not go faster. No Eng light. Only one TC light on. What's wrong?

    Full Question:
I have a 2006 Chevy Uplander with 165,000 kms, used to drive very well, for the last two weeks it started hesitating going from 1-2nd gear. Today on the highway, going 100 km/hr, it would rev up, but not go faster. After I pulled over, tried to shift from park to drive, it goes into gear, but wouldn't move. I do have a TC light on the dash, just wondering if anyone knows what this could be? Could TC be affecting this? Thanks.

    Check here:http://www.fixya.com/cars/t23549206-06_u...
Mine did not do the highway speed issue yours is, but it did "hunt" between 3rd and overdrive.
Your trans is not sealed. There is a bright yellow dipstick on the driver's side. Your TC light (MIL) could be lit for another reason...

Run the fault codes
problem indicates a TCM problem or low transmission oil level.
as most chev transmissions are sealed with no dip stick, it may need a service by an accredited service shop or auto transmission specialist shop

Are the tires balanced? Did they use stick on weights, if so? If this holds true, see if there is a mark on the wheel, where a weight has flown off.

How about the front end alignment, and condition of the tires. Sometimes a belt slips in the tire. This is hard to see, but can be found by sliding your hand around the tire, and you will feel a bulge to one side. (Use caution, as there's no telling what may be stuck in your tire/s, and you can damage your hand or fingers. I realize how that sounds. One has to use finesse, when checking one's tires, with this method)

High rpm while driving

Usually sign of a gear issue. It revs high when the gear is too low for the task. Should idle around 1000 rpm.
Onstar wont see this. Check the gear box. The garage wont charge you to look. Try an authorised dealer

Change fuel filter in a 2006 Chevrolet Uplander

It's kind of difficult to drop a fuel tank and replace the fuel tank module due to the weight and danger of gasoline catching fire or exploding.
