Question about Jeep Cherokee

1 Answer

I was told I need to replace the oil sending unit on my 1994 Jeep Cherokee Country. I bought a Haynes Repair Manual, but I have not been able to find where the oil sending unit is located, or how to replace it. Do I need a special tool to replace the unit?

The switch is near the oil filter. It can be done with a pair of channel locks or pliers or a deep well socket if you have the correct size. If using pliers make sure you latch on to the metal part near the base.

Where is pressure sending unit located on 1995 jeep grand Cherokee limited 5.2liter V8 also oil sensor location

Your best bet is to buy a Haynes or chiltons manual for your vehicle. It will have the locations of the sensors as well as a wealth of other ideas and short cuts. I Purchased one for my Dakota thru ebay for about 10 dollars.

Oil leaks from oil pressure sending unit on my 1994 jeep grand cherokee limited v8 5.2 liter

Replace it immediately the leak will only get worse. On some, you may need a sending unit socket, unless it has flat sides that will work with a wrench. Wrap the thread with teflon tape (one turn) to prevent it from leaking there and do not over-tighten or it will snap off.

High oil pressure and oil leak around oil filter seal.

It sounds like the check valve in the oil pump either has some trash in it or has gone bad. If it's a two wheel drive I don't remember the oil pan being that hard to get off. You can then drop the pickup and oil pump and soak them overnight in some parts cleaner. That may solve the problem, if there's trash in it. But if you're going to go through that much trouble, an oil pump shouldn't be that much I'd just replace it. So the problem doesn't come back. Good luck.

Need owners and repair manuel for a 1994 Jeep Cherokee Country

The easiest to read & understand would be a Chilton's Auto Repair Manual. They have them for almost every vehicle on the road. I had one for a 94 Jeep Cherokee. Available at most auto supply stores and some WalMarts.
