Question about 2004 Jeep Wrangler

Same Problems now wont start

My fan blower acted like it had a short in it...I removed the A/C control panel to look for problems and decide to replace the blower switch, removed the fuse during this time. Everything was fine until one drive my blinkers/break lights stopped working, and I discovered I blown a fuse for the break lights. Replaced the fuse and now it will not start, it cranks over but that is all.....thanks for any help... I've checked all the other fuses and tried to jump it....

Testing the electrical circuit before replacing parts is how it's suppose to be done . The blower doesn't work at any speed ? Did you check A/C FAN fuse 20 amp in the left instrument panel fuse box ?

How to trouble shoot front blower


There are several reasons for a blower to stop working. Does it work on ANY speed? Does the AC compressor lamp or any of the vent control LEDs still work when using the AC controls? Do ANY of the speed for the blower work or are they all dead?

1st, you wanna check your fuses. There will be fuses in the underhood fusebox marked blower or heater fan, check and repalce as necessary. Also, if the earlier check for working LED bulbs on the AC control panel showed some or all lights dont ever turn on when engine is running, you may have problems with the control system.
if the fuses are good, now you need to test parts. there is a blower motor speed control aka blower resistor that frequently fails on most cars. It is the part that carries the current for all speeds of the blower and regulates speed when commanded. It has to absorb the excess energy to lower speeds and it tends to get very hot and burn out as a result. If it has failed, there will be power IN on one of its wires, and no power OUT on any others. If you have no multimeter or testlight to check things like this, Id recommend taking it to a certified mechanic.
If the control lamps all work that means controls have power, if the blower resistor has no power, fuses or blower relay are the most likely cause. if the blower resistor has power but still no fan, most likely your fan has failed. as a general rule, I replace fans and blower resistors as pairs. fans tend to last longer, but they also get more demanding with age (kinda like people) and that extra demand will burn out the newer resistor much faster than when the fan was newer. it can be alot of time and money to change a blower TWICE, so to be sure it wont fail again, test current, or simply replace the blower fan if it is determined a resistor has failed. (a good fan in theory shouldnt draw enough amperage to burn out a good resistor, EVER, so if the resistor burns, the fan is typically drawing too much power, and even though it works "fine", it will burn the next resistor in a short time as well.).

When i turn on the heater and move the heat control or the fan to high the fan does not work but the trunk pops open, the turn signals light up(which dim out if I turn the fan control all the way down),...


this is the fact that the control panel is shorting out and back feeding to other things/fix=replace control panel and may need new blower motor resistor

Where is the blower motor? heater in car dosent blow. not under hood, cant get through glover compartment.


This work for 1998 Buick Century 3.1L SFI OHV 6cyl; the blower motor is a variable speed motor. The higher the voltage applied to the motor, the faster the speed. Depending on the HVAC (Heater Ventilation Air Conditioning) option installed in the vehicle, blower speed control could be through a set of resistors or through a solid-state blower motor control module.

In general, this system is reliable. Because so many of the control operations are electronic, special diagnostic equipment really should be used for system diagnostics and check-out. An authorized technician using a scan tool can most quickly locate HVAC problems.

An inoperative blower motor could be caused by the following:

* Blown fuse(s). The fuse should be replaced. There may be both a LOW BLOWER and HIGH BLOWER fuse. Some models may also call it the HVAC fuse. Even the RADIO fuse is used in some applications. Check them all. If a fuse is blown there may be a short to ground in one of the power supply circuits.
* Open Circuit. Check the circuit between the ignition switch and the blower motor, and the blower motor ground circuit. Repair as necessary. * Faulty blower switch. A faulty blower switch should be replaced. * Most heater blower circuits also include a blower motor relay (look in the underdash convenience center), as well as a blow motor resistor. These items should be checked especially if the blower runs in one or two speeds, but not all speeds selected.

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. The blower motor is located on the passenger side of the vehicle, under the instrument panel. Remove the right side sound insulator (trim panel) by removing the retainers and disconnecting the courtesy lamp.
  3. Detach the blower motor electrical connector. Some applications may have cooling hose to the motor which should be disconnected.

  1. Unfasten the blower motor mounting screws, then remove the blower motor from the vehicle.
  2. If the blower motor fan (also called a 'squirrel cage') must be replaced, use the following procedure:
NOTE Do not hammer on the motor to remove or install the fan. Do not apply force to the motor housing to seat the fan on the motor, or motor/shaft bearing damage could result. Do not apply pressure to the fan rim. Be sure the correct replacement part is used.
  1. Remove the metal star clip retaining the fan cage to the motor shaft.
  2. Remove the fan by pulling straight out.
To install:
  1. If removed, install the blower motor fan, as follows:
    1. Install the replacement fan cage onto the motor shaft.
    2. Adjust the fan cage to get a clearance of 0.30 inch (7.5mm) to the motor mount plate.
  2. Install the remaining components in the reverse of the removal procedure. Make sure the electrical connection is secure. Tighten the motor screws to 14 ft. lbs. (20 Nm).
  3. Connect the negative battery cable, then test the blower motor for proper operations

For some reason the a/c and heating blower fan wont kick on


well neither are controlled by any one fuse or ground but they are controlled either directly or indirectly by the EATC module

start first by seeing if you have power to the blower motor

there are bulbs in the control head that could be out,your fan speed problem sounds like the control switch is either corroded or has poor contact between the fan speeds and mostly only makes full contact for the high blower speed.

Fan on the air conditioning only works sometimes


Blower running all the time, even with the key out is a dead ringer symptom of a bad blower motor speed control. Replace that an your blower problems will disappear. See post below. For manual, call your local library and ask if they have online access to repair manuals.

Blower fan will not come on dodge ram 1500


This could be a few things. First check to make sure that your fan relay is still good. (This will be in your control panel under your hood) Otherwise, your fan switch could be out. Try removing the control panel and the switch that attaches to behind the fan control knob and replace with a new one. Lastly, if your fan works on "high" but not for "low" or "medium" then it is most likely your blower resistor module. If I remember correctly the resistor is located behind the glove compartment. A/c fans wont blow


If the fuse is blown for the blower then there is a short, that is not an answer, go to the blower and check to see that the blower motor connector has 12 volts to it when the blower is set to high speed on control, if it does then u need a new blower motor, if it doesn't then the control switch is defective or the blower motor speed control resistor is defective.

2005 chevy colorado the fan blower will not let me select 123 have changed the control head and and have no positive result at the blower resister ?


I had this same problem on my 2006 colorado. when i purchased a new resistor and went to replace it, I decided to check the resistance of each position on the old one with the resistance on the new one. they were both the same. then I decided to look at the harness. I was told that it needed to be replaced as well but I decided to try just the resistor. The harness had one of the connections in the plastic connector that looked like it had over heated. (IE browned char like look) after installing the new resistor, it ran ok for about 2 days then started acting up again. Then I tried my own solution. I pulled the harness loose from the resistor and with the ignition and fan switch off took a paper clip and manuevered it under the connection with the charring and slightly bent the metal connector out. when complete, the adjusted connector appeared to be a tad too far out compared to the other connectors in the plastic. then I reconnected it to the resistor and haven't had a problem since. I did, just out of curiosity switch out the new resistor with the old one and it too also works with no problems. Of course, the dealership will not take back electreical parts that have been placed in use. This should have been a chevy recall but apparently they don't care about anything but the initial sale of their products. I sent an email to GM and got to not response.
