All engines vibrate. Could be an engine mount.

SOURCE: Ticking noice

If your not already, try using a genuine Nissan oil filter next time you get your oil changed. Most aftermarket filters allow the oil to drain back so when you start up cold the filter is in essence dry and not primed most likely causing the noise your experiencing. This would be the first thing I would reccommend checking.

Every answer here is wrong. This has been driving people nuts for 15 years. The problem is the engine wiring harness which has a bend going past the right strut tower, Nissan had a service bulletin on this in September of 1999, Google it, it's in pdf.

SOURCE: 2005 Nissan Altima makes rattling/vibration noise

It is possible that you have some timing chain noise, especially if you have the 3.5L engine. The secondary timing chain tensioners on the 3.5 have a known problem, Nissan has issued a service bulletin regarding this and there is an updated part to replace them. It is not a cheap job, but your dealer may give you some "goodwill" depending on your mileage. If you have the 2.5L the problem may a couple of other things...even more serious! They had catalytic converters that came apart and got ingested into the engine, eventually destroying it. Try googling "Altima rattle" and include your engine size in the search. There is a ton of info on the net about noises in these cars.

When I turn my heat on I hear noise from underneath the dash on driver side. It stay on for about 5 to 10 seconds. I driver a 2009 maxima

If it is winter time and the temperature is low outside then the bearing is shrinking in its housing. The metal is shrinking more than the plastic housing, leaving a small gap between the bearing and the housing. This gap allows the bearing to slide inside the housing. After a couple of minutes the bearing heats up (bcs of the heating is on) and the size of the bearing will be normal again and the slipping stops.

This is normal when it is cold, it will not cause any harm.

How do you know if the starter on 2009 nissan maxima

If it is working correctly it will start the car.

If it is not working correctly, you may hear it spin, you may hear it engage and turn the engine over a few times and then spin unladed, or you may hear nothing.

If you hear nothing and know the battery is fully charged, check to see if any fuses have blown or wires loose.

If starter is loose it will make a great deal of noise.
