It is supposed to. There is a reservoir underneath that has to fill and it only stops when the water reaches the neck of the bottle.

You don't have it vented properly. Be sure the vent in open, where the vent hose goes, just below the cap.

Water bubbling out of my cooler jug

If you have a blockage, which is highly unlikely, use a heater hose pipe connected to a hose pipe to flush the cooling system. I reckon there is either a large air bubble or the water pump is not working properly.

How do you install a heater core for a1991 Mazda Navajo

remove dash assembly try to back flush first or drain cooling system put water back in add cascade dish washing soap and drive a couple days if heater starts woreking better turn heat on high run engine open drain with a hose nozel on high and a large pan under drain flush all water out with engine running refill system with heat on high and vehicle running if heat still weak remove heater hoses the top should be the return line put a hose about 8 inces long on both out lets run the bottom hose to a high area where it can be suspended put a funnel in upper hose poor clr into hose until it comes out top of lower hose let set for hour and a half then flush out with water into a clear jug flush water vthrough upper hose then if u have air compressor have a 6 inch hose attatched to upper pipe and blow out core into same jug until the jug has clean and clear water refill cooling system and drive if heat doesnt work at first put engine under a load to release residule deposits in heater core and it should start flowing

Second time my head gaskets have gone can i swap to a different motor or how do i fix it so it will last 2006 f350 6 litres

Are you sure its the head gaskets..Most of the time its the EGR cooler and oil cooler..We have a fleet of about 60 of them..Out of 30 ,,29 of them were the coolers and only one was the head gaskets..When its the head gaskets,,it will blow water out of the jug...But both the coolers and the head gaskets will put steam out the exhaust..Drive kinda hard and let it sit overnight and then pull the EGR out and see if its gummy..Job security them 6.0

I replaced my radiator on my 2004 with a 2.2 and it seems like the thermostat is not opening. It can not get the air out. It seem to just to over heat and push the coolant out. Randy

REPLACE THERMOSTAT IF TOP COOLANT COOLANT HOSE GOING TO RADIATOR IS HOT TO TOUCH THERMOSTAT OPEN. TO BLEED COOLANT SYSTEM FIRST YOU NEED TO ADD COOLANT TO THE COOLANT OVER FLOW JUG UNTIL COOLANT LEVEL STOP DROPPING AND STAY AT FULL COLD MARK.WAIT 3 MINUTES IF COOLANT DROPS ADD MORE COOLANT UNTIL COOLANT STAY AT FULL COLD MARK.WITH RADIATOR OVER CAP OFF CRANK ENGINE FOR MINUTE WATCH COOLANT LEVEL AT OVERFLOW JUG.IF COOLANT DROPS ADD MORE COOLANT IN THE OVERFLOW JUG.WHEN COOLANT LEVEL STOP DROPPING IN OVERFLOW JUG.SCREW BACK ON THE RADIATOR CAP TO OVERFLOW JUG.WHILE ENGINE IDLING WATCH TEMPERATURE GAUGE WHEN TEMPERATURE START CLIMBING TURN OFF ENGINE WAIT A WHILE KEEP FROM GETTING SCALDED.WHEN COOLANT COOL DOWN SOME. PLACE A LARGE RAG OVER THE COOLANT OVERFLOW JUG OPEN CAP LITTLE AT A TIME UNTIL PRESSURE RELEASED, THEN REMOVE CAP ADD MORE COOLANT IN THE OVERFLOW JUG TO THE FULL COLD MARK.THEN REPEAT THE PROCESS SCREW BACK ON THE COOLANT OVERFLOW RADIATOR PRESSURE CAP.THEN START ENGINE WATCH TEMPERATURE GAUGE WATCH COOLANT TEMPERATURE GAUGE WHEN COOLANT TEMPERATURE START RISING TURN OFF ENGINE AGAIN WAIT UNTIL ENGINE COOL DOWN ENOUGH TO KEEP FROM GETTING SCALDED TAKE PLACE LARGE RAG OVER RADIATOR CAP WHICH IS THE COOLANT OVERFLOW JUG CAP OPEN CAP LITTLE AT A TIME UNTIL PRESSURE RELEASED ADD COOLANT UNTIL AT FULL COLD MARK. WHEN YOUR COOLANT LEVEL STOP DROPPING.AND TOP RADIATOR HOSE VERY HOT THERMOSTAT OPEN AND AIR IS OUT THE COOLANT SYSTEM. MAKE SURE YOUR COOLANT OVERFLOW JUG HAS COOLANT IN IT,WHEN ENGINE COOL DOWN CHECK COOLANT OVERFLOW JUG KEEP COOLANT LEVEL AT FULL COLD MARK.BECAUSE IF OVERFLOW JUG IS EMPTY THATS A SIGN RADIATOR COOLANT LEVEL LOW.WHEN OVERFLOW JUG EMPTY IT WILL ALLOW AIR GET IN THE COOLANT SYSTEM AND CAUSE CAR TO OVERHEAT.WHEN REPLACING THERMOSTAT ALSO REPLACE THE RADIATOR CAP ON THE COOLANT OVERFLOW JUG.

Running hot ,take the top off resivoir and it bubbles but car runs good, put the top back on runs hot ,poor

try this, go to any auto parts store and buy a new pressure cap for your car. it is probably a bad cap. i put a new cap on my malibu, and it runs much cooler. try it! have a good day !! but let car run for a while with old cap off, to see if bubbles disappear.

Radiator want stay full of water or antifreeze has plastic jug on fender weld

Is there a leak somewhere? There should be green or pink fluid on the ground if there is. The plastic jug is often called the overflow this has level marks on the side of it for when the vehicle is hot and cold, cold is at the bottom end of the jug. The purpose of these marks is so you can see the levels without having to open the radiator. When the engine is cold open the radiator, start the motor and look into the radiator there should be coolant at the top of the opening. If not add coolant while engine is running, note if it's pink it's the DEX/Cool, if green any over the counter coolant will do. Add until the level hits the top of the opening. Let the engine heat up and check the level again. If it's full put cap back on and note the level in the overflow jug. If engine is hot level should be at the top mark, be sure to NOT fill the jug to the very top as it needs the space to expand for any over flow from the radiator.
The system will pull extra coolant from the jug when it's cold and use it until the proper temperature is reached then it will "spit" the extra back into the jug. (that's why there are two lines 'hot' and 'cold') Never add water to the jug as it will cause the jug to crack if the outside temperature goes below freezing always add coolant/antifreeze.

Overheating 2001 pontiac aztek

remove coolant.remove thermostat remove bottom radiator hose to water pump.put a empty container under the radiator.take a water hose put it where thermostat goes flush out the rust in block.watch the water as it come out the water pump .if stream water is small keep flushing until you get a study sream of clear water. also flush out radiator. lower water pressure dont flush radiator it with high water pressure you could burst it. make clean the over flow jug .make sure it not stopped up.put in a new thermostat and radiator pressure cap. fill radiator with half antifreeze and half water.bleed the coolant system.

Overheated transmission in 1993 4x4 dodge 150 and now have no gears. will go about a half block forward or reverse when cold. fluid level was fine but now reads overfull after overheating. is also a new...

Likely have a restriction in cooler flow. The radiator has a tank built into it that cools the trans fluid,if it's restricted, the fluid flow will also be restricted.Disconnect cooler RETURN line, after the radiator, and put into a gallon jug.Have a helper start the vehicle with the selector in NEUTRAL,and measure cooler flow after the radiator. It should be minimum 2 quarts (1/2 gallon) in 20 seconds.Good luck.
