May have a bad steering pump or you are low on power steering fluid. Also check to see if your belt is in good and snug condition. If you can remove the belt, check the pulley that runs your power steering pump

SOURCE: volkswagen polo 5 door hatch 1999 1400cc do I need

When you have replaced the TB turn on ignition to the RUN position. Do not start the engine.

After 10 to 15 seconds you should hear the TB cycling. Allow another 45 seconds before turning off the key.

Remove key.

Insert key and start engine.

Warm Idle should be 750 rpm, plus/minus 40rpm.

If this is unsucsessful....you need a scanner to go to 'Engine' and go to 60 Basic, to set ''Throttle Adaption.''

It could be any one of several things but most likely it is the smell of an overheated or slipping clutch.

Warning licht comes on and steering is stiff vw polo 2005

Hi if the warning light is coming on and steering is stiff, then the car has logged a fault in its ECU either in the steering control ECU or the ABS ECU, these can be read with a diag machine, from there this will give you a better idea of what is causing this problem

hope this helps Chris

Power steering stiff

If the steering is noisy as well as stiff then the steering fluid is low. If it is not noisy then the fault is most likely the pressure control valve inside the power steering pump sticking open. The Pump would need need to be re-conditioned. Also check steering rack boots are not twisted as well as tyre pressures.
