Sounds like a blown head gasket. That will push the water out of the engine, and get you exhaust instead.

Testimonial: "I DONT THINK ITS THE HEAD GASKET BECAUSE WATER IS NOT IN THE OIL NEITHER IS THE VAN STEAMING AT THE EXHAUST"

  • Jay Plesset Dec 23, 2016

Water/oil mixture are not always part of head gasket, and initially steam at exhaust isn't either... Do a compression test. Pressurize the radiator cold, and then crank without sparkplugs. You may see fountains.... I know I did.

Why does my 2003 chevy venture over heat after ten minutes of driving from a cold start?

The first thing I would verify is that there are no air pockets in the cooling system. It can look full but actually have air in the system from being drained.
The next thing would be circulation thru the radiator. Then a blockage in the radiator hose or the block.

I have a 2000 Chevy Venture van and the heat when turned on blows cold. For a while it was still blowing out warm air thru the back vents but now it is all cold. The van wouldn't warm up at all e

needs the water system back flushing out, heater being cold is its blocked up some time a few back flushes and forward flushes with a hose pipe should free up the dirt inside, same with the engine and radiator. there are meany videos on you tube to help you understand how to back flush you engie. but do the radiator and engine and heater separate so the muck does not go back into the engine.

Chevy venture radiator cap won't come off

Well that can be true but you can't be sure without running some tests.
Did you get the cap off ? Is the radiator full of coolant ?
Was the radiator fan running when it was showing hot on the gauge ?

Have changed the water pump, thermostat, radiator, radiator cap, all hoses. 2001 chevy venture, still running hot? How long does it take to bleed the cooling system?

If the system fills via an expansion tank, I would recommend removing the top hose from the radiator and filling the system by pouring the coolant in through the hose until it begins to flow out of the upper radiator port. Reconnect the hose and then fill the expansion tank. That should take care of it.

My temperature gage is going over in the red and my heat is not

Check the sensor which controls the cooling fans that cools the radiator it prevents the engine from over heating and allows the temp gauge to stay at normal range.recently had problems with my 2003 impala overheating it was the sensor had the thermostat replace as well.

1999 Chevy Venture Problems

you have 4 water lines, they are 2 radiator hoses (top and bottom) the bottom one runs from the lower part of the radiator to the water pump, the top radiator hose runs from the upper part of the radiator to the thermostat housing

2 heater hoses, they go from the water pump to the firewall.

if you know which one has a hole then you should take the van to a parts store (if you can safely drive it that far) and show them, they can get the right one for you... and sometimes you can talk someone into putting it on for you.

as for the fluctuating gauges you probably need new sending units for the temp gauge and fuel gauge

I have a Chevy Venture 2001 that has serious problems with the engine overheating. I already replaced the thermostat & antifreeze. When I drive it just a block, the needle on the heat dial jumps from...

You should probably replace the temperature sensor first, make sure the car is indeed overheating.

If after replacing the temp sensor, and the problem does exist, then buy a flush kit, and back flush the system, it may be clogged.
