Question about 1992 Chevrolet Camaro

1992 Firebird wont crank

The fuel pump is pumping, checked pressure shows 35-40 without cranking, checked fire, all plugs and coil are firing, turns over and tries to start then spits a mist out of throttle body, tried spraying starting fluid directly into throttle body but does not make a difference, acts like it is not getting fuel, changed the plugs, changed oil pressure sensor (since this can cause the ecm to turn off injectors), checked codes with scanner shows only 12 which is all systems ok. I need help before I put a bullet in it.....please............

    V6 3.1, Engine was running perfect and just quit while driving, will only hit a lick once in a while and spits fuel vapor out throttle body. Tested ignition module, maybe pickup coil? Maybe fuel pump works but is not up to spec, tested at 35lbs but when you push pressure relief valve it just dribbles out. Somebody please help, this is my daughters car and I have to get it fixed so she will get off my couch!

Which engine? Check firing order (maybe distributor is off, or wrong plug wire to cap or spark plug). It's either spark, fuel or compression. So if firing order and distributor initial and advance timing are set right, and pouring gas down throttle body doesn't work, check compression (worn rings, sticking valves) and valve timing (timing chain might have too much slack or chain jumped a tooth. Replace timing chain if it's worn). If pouring gas down throttle body works test injectors ( MPFI or TPI ) with noid light or have parts store clean and flow test them (around $7-$10 each). TBI injectors are easier to tell if fuel is spraying ( you just need a bright shop light or flash light, and a helper to try to start engine while you look for a strong conical spray pattern). If you don't want to remove everything to check the timing chain, at least try pulling the valve covers and turn the engine over with a wrench (Twist back and forth and check to see how far you have to rotate crank before you notice the rockers moving up and down, also make a couple of complete revolutions and look for rockers that aren't moving much in case of worn cam and or lifters).

I believe i would check my module or rotor it may not be getting enough the moter.

Put new EC module, IT module, distributor EGR valve, coil, TP sensor and fuel pump works. The car cranks but will not fire.

What's missing ? Spark , fuel pressure , or compression. Try spraying carb cleaner into the engine ,throttle plate . Does it try to start then ? If the injectors are bad it will not start , just crank ! Videos on youtube showing how to test fuel injectors with a ohm meter .

If it wont crank. Check your battery make sure it has voltage to start vehicle and check also when cranking and while running. Inspect spark plugs and coil wires for any exposed wires. Makes sure spark plug gaps are within spec. If everything is ok check fuel pressure with pressure gauge could be filter or pump and or regulator if fuel pressure fails. But most likely be your distributor

Dodge ram van wont start

Check fuel pump,and fuel pump relay. Alot of newer vehichles have a fail-safe mode that wont let ignition spark, if no fuel pressure is present, or vice versa.

2001 blazer wont start ran fine before turning off has fuel pressure has fire check timming ok relaced coil ,ing moduel crank sensor dist cap could it be the anti theft ?

You say it has fuel pressure, if it has sequential fuel injection it needs about 70psi to start the engine.
If it cranks and has spark to the plugs, the anti-theft system is not involved.
You did not mention the rotor, I assume you have spark to the plugs not just out of the coil.
If you have not yet checked cranking fuel pressure, I would start there. The pump could be weak or the filter stopped up.

Fuel? Does fuel pump turn on? If you have TBI, is there fuel spray when cranking? If you have port fuel injection do you have fuel pressure at the rail? In both cases, is fuel pressure regulator functional?

If you have fuel, and spark- do you have the right firing order?

92 olds cutlas s with a 3.4,cranks over,wont start,will fire up if starting fluid is used.have already replaced fuel any ideas

Without starting engine turn key to ignition position, does pump run for a couple seconds? Should be able to hear it in a quiet atmosphere. If not check fuse, old pump may have blown it. Next step would be to remove Schader valve cap by fuel rail and with a rag being held over a small pick or screwdriver press in the valve core and see if you have any pressure. The better way to check for fuel pressure is to rent/loan a fuel pressure tester from a parts store. Don't start a fire is what I am saying. Let the gas evaporate and dry out. No pressure means pumps not running (or) fuel filter is plugged

1999 S10 will crank over but will not start.

Check the air gap on the crank shaft sensor, if it does not have a .50 gap it will not send signal to fire coil pack repy to this post if you need more help.
