usually the 3.2psi is used if heat is higher and cope up with the pressure shifts. but if the weather and condition is not to hot, as in violently hot, you do not need to go higher than 4.2 - 4.5psi.

How much refrigerant does a 1999 dodge grand caravan hold?

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.
This is probably more information that you wanted but... have to cover all the possibilities:
If you are servicing a system that has leaked you have no idea how much oil it left in the system.
DO it right the first time......
The proper way to service it is to connect it to a recovery & servicing unit. Evacuate and test the system for leaks, then reservice the system per the specs below.
1999 Dodge Caravan:

. Low side gauge (evaporator suction): 10 to 37 psi.*
. High side gauge (discharge): 112 to 210 psi.*
. Refrigerant oil capacity (without rear A/C): 5.00 oz.
. Refrigerant oil capacity (with rear A/C): 7.40 oz.
. Refrigerant capacity (without rear A/C): 2.13 lbs. of R-134a
. Refrigerant capacity (with rear A/C): 2.88 lbs. of R-134a

*Sea level and ambient air temperature of 80 degrees F.

Oil light keeps coming om my 1999 Dodge caravan when it is warmed up and foot is of the gas

Could be low oil level, faulty oil pressure sensor, clogged oil filter, or just plain worn out. Check the level first.

1998 dodge caravan stalls with oil light on

I would stop driving it if I were you. Sounds to me like it might be the pump or a line that is clogged. New oil can break loose deposits in your motor and will end up in a oil pump pickup line, filter, or pump. And for your safety, here is a complete list of recalls on your vehicle. If your vehicle is affected by one or more of these recalls, then you may qualify for a free repair! http://www.internetautoguide.com/auto-recalls/09-int/1998/dodge/caravan/index.html
Have a nice day. And have someone check your van.

Makes a loud whining noise and is slipping when

Verify that your trans fluid is at the correct level. When if at all was the trans last serviced?

If fluid is low, try bringing it up to proper level with Valvoline ATF+4 fluid. You need to used either fluid from a dealer, or the valvoline brand which is approved by Dodge.

Transmisson

possible use of the wrong fluid type or improper level. also when a transmission wears the material gets into the oil making it thicker which increases the pressure which compensates for the wear.
if the first isn't true the second is. it may relearn and adapt.

Our 2001 Dodge Caravan seems to be leaking oil around drive shaft

Yes it's a bad seal and most likely the side bearing to the trans axle is bad too. Once the bearing has play, it vibrates and causes the oil to leak though the seal. Note: if one side went bad the other side is soon to follow since they have the same amount of miles on them. Might as well change both side. Good luck and hope this helps. Keep an eye on the transmission fluid level, don't want to burn out the transmission.

2001 dodge caravan sport 3.3 need to know what weight oil it take

The correct oil weight is 5W20, but 5W30 can be used also. Be consistant when using oil, try to use the same brand and always use the same viscosity. This vehicle requires 4.5 liters of engine oil.
