My 1999 Dodge Dakota RT will not pass inspection. The check engine light stays on. I changed the O2 sensor and the speed sensor. What else can I do???

Check engine lights are designed to turn on because of an fuel/emission problem. You changed the O2 sensor, ****have you reset the computer by disconnected the battery for about 10-15 minutes?**** After you reconnect it drive for several miles to see if it turns on. Run the gas tank empty and when you pump gas try not to pump at gas stations that have E10 mixed with regular gas. BP and shell stations are known for that and can trip the O2 sensor. Try pumping at a gas station like the exxon. If you still have problems with the check engine light, try cleaning the mass air flow sensor ( its located after the air filter and before the throttle body). Also check the gas cap, making sure there aren't any leaks or signs of cracks in it. The best thing to do is to take it a Auto Zone or Advanced Auto and have it diagnosed for free. That could give you a better idea on what to look for if none of these things fix it

2004 Jetta sedan, 1.8 TDI, about 38000 miles, manual transmission. Always use premium gas (91 octane or above) from name-brand stations. Last serviced in Oct 2010 -- oil change, new tires, new brakes...

You use premium gas in a TDI? Run that by me again? A TDI is a diesel engine car. What don't I understand here? I'm not being a smart __s but this just does not make sense. If you have put gasoline in a TDI, DO NOT DRIVE IT. Tow it to a dealer.

Car want start after putting gas

you might be a victim for crappy gas for the gas stations. some places known for it is speedway and such low end places make sure you get gas from the better places like mobile or shell and never fill up at a station that a tanker is filling the station up you will get sediment that the tanker stirred up when refueling the underground tanks. they have screens to try and filter it out but stations don't care. i have known some stations after hours run water in there tank to stretch out there fuel supply and it lowers the octane to the point you'll never get combustion to fire the engine. you'll have to either jack up the vehicle and take the filter out and turn on the pump to get all or most the fuel out or complain to the gas station and try and get a reimbursement. and put some fresh fuel in.only thing you can do.and while the filter is off good time to change it 5 -10 dollar part.hope this helps ya. best way to check is get some in a cup and pour a little on the ground and try and light it if it don't fire or smell strong sorry your a victim off low octane watered down gas. i might be out of place here but it happens to many many people everyday.

In my 2002 mercury cougar i just put gas in it and now when i start it i have to be pushing gas at all time or it cuts off

Probably a bad tank of gas. Go to your local parts store and buy a bottle or two of Heet. It's in a yellow bottle. Then drive to the nearest Chevron or Shell gas station and top off the tank after dumping the Heet in. If the problem persists then change out your fuel filter.

Sluggish and loss of power

if the car ran good befrore you filled up ,there might be water in the fuel you pumped into the car, sometimes water gets into the gas station fuel tanks when it rains, try to drain your gas out and try fuel from another station

2006 Hyundai Azera problem starting

Buy only quality brand gas like Shell and add a bottle of fuel injector cleaner during your fill up, after 1-2 tanks if the problem persists then you can eliminate a problem with the gas or dirty fuel injectors. At this point you should have replaced the air filter and done 2-3 oil changes, sounds like the battery and starter are fine. Track what you put in the tank and then go back to complain if you still have a problem.
