2000 Dodge Durango Starting/Stalling Issue

Sometimes it will not start. sounds like the battery is dead. try a few times and it cranks but won't turn over. pump the gas and try then it starts but stalls right out. give it gas and it runs for a second then stalls. try a few times then it starts normally like nothing happened. What could do that? It has only happened three times in 1 week. most of the time it acts normal.

I would start by inspecting and cleaning the battery terminals.

Why wont my vehicle start?

What's missing ? Fuel , spark . What condition is the battery in ? Fully charged 12.6 volts . When you turn the key to start does the starter spin the engine ? A crank no start or nothing happens when you turn the key to start . Videos on youtube ! Crank no start or no crank no start .

When it won't start, will the engine turn over and try to start, or does it act like a dead battery?

My 2005 durango want cran over

What happens when you attempt to start the engine? If nothing happens when you turn the key,you need to check the battery to determine its state of charge. Many starters won't do a thing unless there is at least 10 volts available from the battery. A low battery does not necessarily mean the battery is the problem, though. The battery may have been run down by prolonged cranking while trying to start the engine. Or, the battery's low state of charge may be the result of a charging system problem. Either way, the battery needs to be recharged and tested. If the battery is low, the next logical step might be to try starting the engine with another battery or a charger. If the engine cranks normally and roars to life, you can assume the problem was a dead battery, or a charging problem that allowed the battery to run down. If the battery accepts a charge and tests okay, checking the output of the charging system should help you identify any problems there.

My 2000 dodge durango battery gage goes over to 18 and if i cut if off at this time and try to crank it back up its completely dead it won't crank for at least 30 minutes or longer after this happens

sounds link alt. starting to go bad. do you need to jump it after the battery dies, or after you wait the 30 min? or when you turn the key after the 30 min does it start right up?
if it starts right up you have to much of a drain on the battery or something you may have plugged in may be draining the battery IE phone charger, radar detector, etc.
if you need to jump it then it is probably the alt. starting to go bad.
