SOURCE: I have a 2000 ford Taurus that makes a whooshing

If you have the type or wheels that you can look past to see the brake rotors, you will see rust. This rust will form more where the brake pads have set for a couple of days. When you start rolling the rust will be rubbing the brake pads until it wears off. This makes the sound.

This is normal for todays cars. It can be minimized slightly with Ceramic pads, but the real culprit is the steel in the Rotors. Dry roads and everyday use will eliminate the problem until we get a wet spell again.

Have the tyres professionally checked for tread/ belt separation as this will make a noise as the moved belt hits the road.

How do I replace a brake booster on a 1998 Buick LeSabre? Brakes hold but make a whooshing when applied.

May not be the booster as some do make a noise when the brakes are applied. To test press the brakes several times with engine off, Press the pedal down hard and start the engine , the pedal should move down slightly and there should be no whooshing sound . if the above is ok so is the booster.

Abs and brake light on

The ABS is an in line service that keeps brake line pressure as the wheels are cycled between stop and run in a skid situation. Under normal braking the ABS doesn't work so if your brakes have failed then have then checked out by an accredited brake shop . ABS light may be on to tell you that the ABS system is not available I would be checking the master cylinder and brake booster for brake failure.

Hyundai i10 Steering not rotating. It seems to be locked. Pls help. The wheels were tilted to other end so, I tried to straighten by turning the steering even before starting the engine. But when I start...

Faulty Steering?
It was not until later in the day as I check the Internet for "hyundai i10" "steering locking" that I started to worry once again. I found reviews and comments mentioning that the i10 had problems with its power steering system which sometimes caused locking while the car was in motion! This post about hyundai i10 steering locking is what really caused me to get worried again. I still puzzled a bit and not sure if that was the same case as mine as in my case the locking took place while the car was at a stand still and turned off. I'll try to follow up on this carefully to see where it goes. Perhaps I should mention this issue to the agency as they service my car after the first 1000 miles (or first month of driving it).
Update: After describing the problem on an Arabic cars forum I learned that nothing was wrong with my i10. The steering locking was normal since I tried to move the steering too much while the car was turned off. As for the key not turning in with ease, the reason was that I must have moved the steering slightly after inserting the key and before turning the key. This is the method used for turning the key whenever the steering has locked. Man, I just love those forums and i LOVE the Internet.

05 equnox sharp turn noise

I forgot to ask if the noise was front or rear and stationary or moving so I will cover both.

If the noise is while the truck is stationary and the noise is from the front I would have to say the power steering pump. I have been changing several lately for similar concerns.

As far as the rear if the noise happens while making sharp turns and makes a whirring/growling noise while in motion its the rear differntial. What you can do yourself to be sure is find an open lot and drive in rather tight circles for about a minute, then noise should stop. This action flushes the clutch disks and stops the noise. If the noise goes away you will need to do a rear diff flush.

The fluid is very expensive so be sure this is your problem first.

In order to do the flush drive in tight circles for 5 minutes in each direction and then drain and fill the rear diff with the new Versatrak fluid.

Good Luck
