Have the transmission tested for proper hydraulic pressure. Test the valve body and shift solenoids for proper operation.

My 2008 Ford f150 after a long drive shakes and shudders when reversing, what could be the cause?

if it is a manual , check engine mounts, "U" joints, centre bearing support
Shuddering in first or reverse in manuals normally indicates oil or grease on the clutch plate linings but I would check the rest first as you did not mention any problem when taking off
I would start with the engine mounts as reversing places strain on the opposite mount

Clutch wont disenguage mechanical linkage only peddle and cable loose is it bad quadrant cable is not broke

Sounds as if the pressure plate is bad. Or the throw out bearing. If prior to failure, was it difficult to engage reverse or first gear? That would indicate a throw out bearing failure. Replace all clutch components.

On a 04 Nissan Frontier I replaced the clutch. After several months shaking really bad when I let out on the clutch in first gear. It never does it when cold only after driven awhile.

clutch shudder is from hot spots on the flywheel ,hot spots/warped pressure plate, oil on the flywheel face /pressure plate face, faulty engine mounts. many people think that it is just a matter of replacing the clutch plate but this always results in a poor performing clutch
Installing a clutch kit without first removing the protective coating on the pressure plate is a problem as well
Incorrect tightening sequence of the pressure plate bolts will cause a deformed pressure plate cover resulting in clutch engagement problems
If you have a cable clutch then that is made worse by bad engine mounts. Remember what you did and what you should have done and you will have the answer as to why it is shuddering on take off.

How do I no if I have clutch problems

clutch problems ae indicated by slipping ( engine rpms rising but not going ant where), slipping may be a faulty clutch master cylinder, shuddering as you let the clutch out ( clutch plate covered with grease /oil ---OR--- faulty engine mounts. pedal to the floor is a problem in the hydraulics or a cable failure. A cable failed and jammed will also cause a slipping clutch
so to summerise ,if the clutch is slipping --check out the hydraulics and cables. If it is shuddering --check out the engine mounts. Basically if it starts to slip after being driven for a period of time then it will be the clutch pressure plate /clutch plate worn

Clutch shudder going into first gear from stop

There are a few possible causes

- oil on the clutch plate causing uneven grip (leaking rear crank seal)
- worn engine mounts (have a good look at these)
- worn clutch pilot (centre) bearing
- broken clutch plate spring (not common)
- warped pressure plate (rare)
- warped driven plate (caused by poor installation)

For all these except the engine mounts the gearbox has to come off

Steps to Replacing a Clutch on mitsubishi express

for the full steps then get a workshop manual as there are some details that will be missed . Basically it is Remove the battery terminal. remove the rear drive shaft ( front also if 4wd). Remove the gear lever at the tower bolts on the gear box. Drain the gear box or be prepaired for the gear oil to run out the end of the transmission when you pull the box. . Place a bottle jack under the sump at the rear of the engine . Place a trolley jack under the gear box. undo the rear transmission mount cross member Undo all the bell housing bolts. lower the jack and the trolley jack and pull the gear box back. Undo the bolts holding the pressure plate on the flywheel a bit each at a time as you go around the plate . Remove the plate and the clutch plate ( be aware that the clutch plate will only go back in one way so watch the way the clutch hub was facing. Remove and replace the bearing in the back of the crank shaft. clean up the flywheel face ( good idea for a good non shudder job is to have the flywheel re-machined ) fit the clutch plate the right way and fit the pressure plate . Use a clutch aligner tool as it will be impossible to fit the gear box with out it. Replace the clutch throw out bearing. Now re install using the reverse processes As I said a manual shows it all

Fiesta started making noises either gearbox or clutch? clunks going in to reverse, shudders driving off in 1st gear

sounds like your clutch is going out, is it hard to put in gear with clutch all the way depressed? could also be the sinkronyzer going out, could be the gears in the transmission also going bad. need to check the fluid in the transmission.

lol. That sounds unusual to me that they would change the clutch. But, I would ask them if the shudder in first gear is due to loose engine mounts or if when they changed the clutch, they used a new pressure plate and checked the flywheel for warpage?
