Sounds like you may have a blown head gasket. If there is oil in the coolant, and musty brown look and smells bad that's the culprit. I would do a rad flush and oil change and see what happens next...

SOURCE: Problem with Altenator belts Etude

the problem is not the altenator. you should have a idler pully and a self adjusting idler tensioner. if thes e go bad the bearings tend to seize up and break belts i would check these first chance you get the tensioner should be spring like and be hard to move back and forth the pulley part of it should spin freely with out makeing a noise. please rate this

SOURCE: removal of the engine gaurd

unfortunatley there are about 10 bolt and screws to remove the aluminium guard along with the plastic--I have just done this and had trouble with siezed set screws--I have now split the unit so that when draining engine oil only the plastic shield is removed

SOURCE: My Volvo is overheating and mixes the engine oil

the oil that you are seeing may be transmission fluid if its an automatic, the transmission lines go through the radiator for cooling.if the radiator fails in that section ,it could be leaking into the antifreze,or you have a blown head gasket

1999 dodge durango transmission has water inside

If transmission oil cooler is leaking, engine coolant may enter cooler, or transmission oil may enter engine cooling system. Both engine cooling system and transmission oil circuit should be drained, flushed, and inspected.

If no external leak and the transmission fluid colour looks white, the problem belongs to the automatic gearbox oil cooler. The oil cooler has broke mixing the gearbox oil and coolant causing this milkshake. It's a small radiator core type oil / water heat exchanger. It is cracked inside and transmission oil is mixed with engine coolant. Because the transmission oil pressure is greater than engine coolant pressure, the transmission fluid level drops. See also the coolant colour inside recovery coolant reservoir inder bonnet! It could be like this:

In the picture above the transmission oil pan was removed for oil filter replacement.

Ticking, water boiling, temp guage reads normal. replaced thermostat housing...no sugnificant change

Hi and welcome to FixYa!

If it's not overheating then it's just normal. The radiator coolant is really boiling and it must not be opened when the engine is running on normal temperature. If the engine runs sluggish and the temp is still in normal then there surely is problem with the gauge. Have it replaced including the water pump of the car. The coolant must flow freely on the radiator and if the water pump is faulty it will flow slow which may cause overheating.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

Hi guys, maybe you can help. My 1999 mazda millenia engine is overheating constantly. I have the 2.5 6 cyl. I can start the car and let it idle for 15 minutes and the coolant starts to "boil" in...

Sounds like the thermostat to me , hovever you said you changed it , which makes me think that either there is a big vapour lock inside the engine , or the water pump is not circulating the coolant. I had a Ford that had the Mazda 2.5 v6 , and I believe the water pump belt was on the other end of the engine. NOT on the same side as the main serpentine belt. check the transmission end ( drivers side ) for a pully with no belt on it. Good luck.

My mazda etude is having water in one of the spark plugs

Remove that plug and turn engine over. Does water shoot out of the spark plug hole? Head gasket leak, cylinder-to-coolant channel side. Do you see any water vapor or actual water out of your exhaust when you first start it?
