Question about Mercury Cars & Trucks
Didnt specify if line --master cylinder --caliper or brake cylinder [drum brakes ] generic answer --if and where leak is detected will need to replace that part then will need to bleed the system to get all air out

This is what i just found on the internet about this.
That is an indication the slave cylinder is leaking. You would have to remove the drum and replace the slave cylinder, perform bleeding of system to rectify.
Always perform repairs for both sides even though only one side is leaking now. It would fail sooner or later if not repaired now.

The brake master cylinder reservoir has a separate chamber and is used to supply the hydraulic clutch system. So make sure master cylinder reservoir is full.
Here is a pic of the system.
1. Brake master cylinder reservoir
2.Clutch master cylinder
3.Clutch slave cylinder with integrated release bearing
