I have a 97 GST, the idling was up and down all the time and shifted hard. I had a remanufactored neutral safety switch put on it and now, it idles perfectly, but disengages from drive going down road. There was a cut wire on the hook up, but we fixed that when installing new switch.

Now it will go into reverse, but slips in and out of drive. You can adjust cable and it will do OK for a few then back to disengaging. It makes no sense, before putting this switch on, it shifted hard but right, now it's symptoms have reversed, it idles perfectly smooth but doesn't shift right now. Could it be a bad switch again since it was remanufactored?

Installed a new neutral Safety switch in my 97 eclipse gst and now having shifting problems will not stay engaged in drive

if the neutral safety switch is not altering with your shifting situation somehow u need to trace ur footsteps back to where u started and see if u messed with the alignment of the shifting switch readjust properly to engage and drive. Good Luck

How can i tell if my turbo is bad on a 97 gst? are they hard to replace

You will feel a loss of power

Not too hard but time comsuming get a repair manual it will hep you.

If you have a boost guage your positive pressure boost will be lower than normal and the bearing may make a squealing sound if it's going bad.

Will my 97 eclipse gst need a universal bypass module so i can hook up a ready remote alarm and remote start system

forget the boy racer alarm ,it will cause no end of problems in the future ,just use a padlock and chain from the seat fixing and then around the steering wheel ,check this site out for people with problems big time from these alarms being fitted.

97 eclipse gst

It's going to be hard to pinpoint that - with age and time, the wastegate and related parts can start to wear out, so that may need to be repositioned to keep the proper boost level. I know your car comes with a boost gauge, but do you have an aftermarket one? They're much better - the OEM boost gauge is not accurate enough to do much other than tell you whether you're in boost or vacuum. With an aftermarket gauge, you'll know what pressure you're actually making. With that, you can tweak the nut so that the wastegate opens at the proper point. Or you could get an electronic boost controller (used GReddy PRofec II units are available on eBay for less than $150) and really give yourself accurate boost control.
