Ensure you have enough transmission fluid, let vehicle run to warm up oil, block wheel and put transmission in neutral and verify oil while engine running, adjust as needed, if that doesnt work, possible torque converter mal function or shift solenoid, also check engine goes with a scan to verify possible transmission codes

SOURCE: My audi80 cabriolet wont start.
Your problem seems to be related to the power connections to the management computer system system..... Get yourself a multi meter and check the battery voltage first....have you replaced the battery?
Sometimes when a vehicle has stood for a long time, oxidization can build up between the battery towers and the terminals....this can cause intermittent faults, such as you're describing....but it's unlikely!....If you find that thats all ok, trace through the cables that connect to the computer....
......There will be an ignition connection....
......A battery connection, which should always have power, even with ignition off.....
.....There will be starter signal and ignition signal.....
.......Check the ground connections and then, and this is going to take time....trace through all the cables from each of the sensors and the controlled units....Make sure that the pump is getting power and that power is getting through to the ignition....
This is a very lengthy topic and I believe it may be a lot easier to do it in stages.....
This is the end of the first stage.....keep in touch and I'll give all the help that I can.....

check to see if the brake lights come on it may be a problem with a brake switch under the dash not letting the shift lock release. there may be a seperate switch just for it so check and see it there is two switches touching the brake pedal lever if the brake lights come on.

Remove the lugs at the battery. Clean the posts and the lugs - then reconnect. Your battery won't charge (and the jumpers won't work) largely because of a film on the + post and lug. If you live in a hot summer area, (Arizona) the problem is especially troublesome.

Just checking, but did you install it with the arrow pointing to the engine? Take it off and try blowing through it, if you can't then it's plugged up and you need to get another. If you can blow through it, then it's something else.
