I have a small oil leak on the sump of my 2007 S 320 CDI. What does it take to repair it

I would (or a local shop or dealer) need to clean the engine of all residual oil and then install a bottle of special dye that glows under a black light and then verify the location of the leak. It (oil) can appear to come from the pan gasket (you call it a sump) but it may be just dripping down from an unseen leak up top on the engine like the intake manifold gasket or valve cover.

How to take the flywheel off with the engine still in

You will need to remove the transmission or transaxle first and then you can remove the flywheel. You do not state model of car so I cannot give more detailed answer than that

My engine is idling very high

High idle speed is an indication of a vacuum leak. Listen for a small whistle. Find the whistle sound, you will find the leak. Now repair the bad hose, or broken plastic tube with a small chunk of hose that will fit over the tube. If it is more major, it could be an intake manifold gasket. The engine uses an idle air motor to control engine RPM. After fixing the vacuum leak, the engine may not idle at all, until you drive the car for about 5 minutes above 40 MPH. The idle air motor resets itself to 0.

I would recommend buying a Haynes or Chilton book on the unknown engine.

Small leaking from oil and fluids gaskets, do I need repairs

Cars are not supposed to leak.

A small oil leak will eventually make the whole engine slimy.

If you forget to keep putting oil in, a leak can destroy the engine from running out of oil.

You don't have to have it repaired, but if it is an inexpensive repair, I think you should. (Some oil leak repairs require somewhat extensive engine disassembly, and are not cheap...)

Have the vehicle scanned for codes and do the repairs the codes specify. Autozone usually will scan the vehicle for free.

I have a 2000 Chevy Astro that only blows out the defroster vents

It is a 90% chance the plastic vacuum line to the heater control from the engine has broken.
Remove the air filter housing and the rubber hose from the engine to the air filter housing.
Look for a small black plastic tube coming from the pass side fire wall going back across the engine to the drivers side middle of engine.
Look for a broken section and repair with small rubber tubing.
Once the engine is started.....vacuum is restored to the heater control....and it should work as new.

Will a stock transmission fit on a 305 small block engine?

Not a stock 1991 GMC Sonoma transmission. They're made to fit a V6, not a V8.
(With a 4.3Liter V6 engine)

1997 Intrepid,valve cover leaking

It is not complicated especially if you have the small engine with the small valve covers. The overhead cam engines that look like they take up all the space under the hood are harder. I have some of both. See which engine you have. It also should not take a repair shop very long to change them. Hope this helps you, Rick
