Question about 2006 Nissan Xterra
I have a 2006 mustang gt and the fuel gage drops while driving and then raises back to position. I took the car and had it checked and they told me that it was the fuel pump and sending unit. Both of these parts were replaced and it is still doing the same thing.
I had the same problem during a race on a road course. It straightened out on the way back to town that evening. I had a nearly full tank, but it showed empty. I have a double pump Shelby system that was installed by a Ford dealer. I also assume this is a short in the wiring from the sender. I have had no further trouble with it so I have not tried to solve it. Intermittent shorts are the hardest to troubleshoot. If you find it let us know where it was.

Mine dose that too bu only after im doing donuts or racing down back roads. i just always assumed it was because all the fuel went to one side of the tank.

Usually this is the fuel sending uint alone not the fuelpump. but since you did both. the only thing left to check is a loose wire at the connector sometimes make connection sometimes not make sure to ck the wires at the fuel pump connector and the instrument cluster.
