Question about 2009 Nissan Altima

Open Question

I have a 2009 Altima push-to-start and the smart key light is on. The car will not start. The manual stated it had something to do with the steering wheel being locked. Is there a way to unlock it?

SOURCE: 1998 nissan altima gxe -ignition problem

Hi what is happening is that your turn off your car and left the wheels turned to one side and specially if your car is parke in a hill what you have to do is to force the steering wheel to the same direction of your wheels this will free up the ignition switch it is going to be hard let me tell you but it will work and this is why your shift don't work once you have the ignition switch free then your shift will work again

Getting NO KEY error. 2009 nissan push start

There could be multiple things going on here. One, have you replaced your I-key battery? You can try inserting the whole I-key into the slot located on the lower dash on the left side of steering wheel and try to start the car. If that doesn't work, then your I-key is broke and you will have to buy another one.

2008 Nissan Altima not recognizing smart key

Car not starting or turning over indicates towards multiple possibilities. It can be issue with battery or weak battery. But if battery checks out ok, then it can be starter issue or faulty alternator or problem with low fuel pressure or no spark at spark plugs due to dirty spark plugs or faulty ignition coil or injectors getting cracked or dirty and needs to be cleaned.

To confirm the problem, the basic troubleshooting is required.

The car would have to be hot wired like a thieve would do but your steering would still be locked. You can pull the ignition switch out where the key goes and start it with a screwdriver
