Misalignment of the throw out arm to the axis of the cylinder
throw out arm not central on the pivot ball, or incorrect cylinder in use
use washers under the cylinder mounts to align the action

check the push rod coming out of the slave cylinder and see if there is a threaded section of bolt into the 1/2 ball at the clutch throw out arm. If it is a one piece rod with no thread then there is no adjustment. With this application if there is a problem indicated by a slipping clutch or the pedal has to come well off the floor before engaging, the cheapest fix is to replace the clutch master cylinder as the compensating port is normally the culprit. If it is adjustable then the adjustment is with the rod pushed fully into the slave cylinder there should be about 1/2 inch between the clutch throw out arm and the 1/2 ball Worst case if you have this adjustment and the slave cylinder piston will readily return fully into the cylinder then you will have to consider the clutch

Car will not engauge into 1st or 2nd gear


the gear grinding noise is because the clutch plate is not fully disengaging and the input shaft is still driving. If you did not use the same length of push rod then the slave cylinder is not moving enough to disengage the clutch. Check it out that with the pedal on the floor the piston in the slave cylinder should be almost to the edge of the slave cylinder . That is where It should be to be working properly

Hi I changed my gearbox on my 54 plate zafira 2.0 dti put a new slave cylinder in but it pop straight away do I need the fly wheel for that gearbox Many thanks john


If by pop you mean that the slave cylinder piston came out of the cylinder then I would fix that by installing a longer push rod to take up the extra length required by the slave cylinder being too far away from the clutch throw out lever (or relocate the cylinder closer to the arm. The length would be about 1/4" shorter than when the piston is fully bottomed out and that will give you a bit of free play and not let the clutch slip. Keep the fly wheel in mind but as long as the throw out bearing stays on the clutch input shaft housing then the flywheel would not solve much

Why would the bottom blow out of a six month old slave cylinder from a Toyota land cruiser


The only end that can blow on a slave cylinder is the push rod end and a sudden loss of fluid means that the rubber cup in side has failed or the push rod has been pushed out of the cylinder . Replace it with a new one

I just replaced the clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearing and both the master and slave cylinders. I am not getting any significant travel in the slave when I push the pedal in. How much travel should...


you may just open the bleeder, and let it gravity bleed. make sure on the master cylinder that the piston is coming all the way back when the pedal is all the way back/up. there's an adjustment for that, on the rod connecting the clutch pedal to the master cylinder.

How to bleed the clutch on a saturn 97


one way to bleed it is by pulling the piston like slave cylinder with the rod out of the transmission and by pushing the rod into the slave cylinder several times, make sure you have plenty of dot3 brake fluid in the clutch master slave before you do this. by pushing the rod into the slave cylinder it acts like doing a brake job it bleeds the air out into the clutch master slave cylinder and sucks in the break fluid getting rid of all air in the system. thats the only way to bleed those systems seeing as they are sealed systems

The clutch is stuck to the floor bord and i cant shift


you may have a faulty clutch master cylinder or faulty clutch slave cylinder- leaking clutch fluid. most of the time both are replaced at the same time which should be recomended by your mechanic, the bolts to the master cylinder are very hard to get to and require the right tool.
you should be able to move car forward by selecting 1st then cranking engine till it starts, gear changes while driving are hard but not impossible. i recommend a tow truck to a local repairer.

After replacing starter and removing slave cylinder, clutch fails to work


sounds like you have a air pocket or you fail to engage the slave cylinder push rod If you disconnected the slave cylinder from the hose proceed to bleed out the slave cylinder if you didn't take you slave cylinder and whit out disconnecting the hose and make sure the push rod is against the clutch push arm.
