Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

SOURCE: 99 ford ranger timing belt

Using the same 13mm socket, remove the bolt that you found under the a/c compressor. Look down and to the right of the bolt that you just removed, and you will see two more bolts. Both are 13mm. Easiest way that I found was to go under the driver side tire well, and use 3/8 extensions to reach the two bolts. Once removed, the bracket and the power steering pump should be moved to the driver's side of the frame, and the a/c placed on top of the p/s assy.

Remove the bolts (6mm) that hold the timing belt cover in place. Gently work your way around the cover, and push the tabs in to remove the cover.

Use an impact wrench and 7/8 SAE socket to remove the crankshaft pulley. A SOCKET WRENCH WILL NOT WORK. Once removed, gently tap the pulley with a 2x4 (yes the wooden board) to remove. If you have a gear puller, use that. I don't own one.

Remove the old belt. Now for the alignment. Crank - sprocket on bottom. Use the bolt you removed, and a ½ drive wrench, with the 7/8 socket to turn the crank. Once the keyway is at high noon, leave it alone. Next, move the oil pulley sprocket until the diamonds are aligned. This should put the oil pulley at high noon, also. The camshaft should have a diamond and a triangle. The diamond should go to high noon, and the triangle should align with a triangle on the plastic behind the sprocket. YOU SHOULD REALLY CONSIDER CLEANING THE ENTIRE AREA BEFORE ALIGNING THE SPROCKETS. You cannot align the camshaft without locating the two index (triangle and diamond) marks.

You will also notice a tensioner for the timing belt. You will need to loosen the tentioner with a 13mm and 17mm wrenches. Loosen, then use a cheeter bar bar to move the tentioner over. Lock in place by tightening the tentioner bolts. Place the belt on the crankshaft, move to the oil pulley, then to the cam pulley. Release tentioner, then check the alignment. If correct, reverse the above removal plan, and you should be good.

Don't buy the Haynes manual. I fought with the instructions for this project, and the picture for the timing belt project doesn't show the two indexes for the cam sprocket.

Also, while you are doing this, you should replace the antifreeze if you haven't in the past two years.

Best of luck.

if the ABS system is functional u will have no ABS warning light showing in the dash except when u first turn the key on, that is a prove out to show the indicator light is working. If the ABS has a problem of any kind the light will always stay on when driving and the system will be disabled..

SOURCE: will '89 Ranger leaf springs fit a '99 Ford Ranger 4x4?

Measure the distance from bolt to bolt, and to the center. If they match then, they match, if not you will have to check the numbers with fords tolerances to avoid an axle wrap. But it should fit, maybe just a little stiffer of a suspension from the 4x4.

SOURCE: ABS System

Have the sensors adjusted.. The ABS prevents lock up and default is no lockup prevention. They won't cause lock up *** just won't prevent it. good luck.

Anti theft bypass on 99 ford ranger??????

Technically, you can't bypass it. Neither can the car thieves.
The security module is built into the instrument cluster and it "talks" to the engine computer. The two components have to be sync-ed with the key codes.
You may be able to hot-wire the coil and fuel pump but I doubt the injectors will work since the computer will be out of service.
Usually a dealer has to reprogram the cluster and computer with the new key code.

1999 vw jetta vr6 abs light stays on, but brakes work fine

the only way you will find this out is to have a diagnostic machine plugged in and the fault memory read to check what fault is logged, it could be anything from a ABS wheel speed sensor to a control module fault, to save money in the long run i would advise you get the fault memory read first. hope this helps

TEST B: BATTERY VOLTAGE OUT OF RANGE - DTC B1676
1. Check if vehicle has been jump started within past 2 weeks. If vehicle has been jump started, ABS is
okay. If vehicle has not been jump started, go to next step.
2. Using DVOM, measure voltage between positive and negative battery terminals. If voltage is 9-19 volts,
go to next step. If voltage is not 9-19 volts, diagnose charging system. See appropriate GENERATORS
article in STARTING & CHARGING SYSTEMS.
3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect 25-pin ABS control module. Install EEC-IV 60-pin Breakout Box (014-
00322). Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between breakout box terminal No. 20 and ground. If voltage
is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair Light Blue/Pink wire between
ABS control module and instrument panel fuse panel.
4. Turn ignition off. Measure voltage between breakout box terminal No. 25 and ground. If voltage is
greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair Red wire between ABS
control module and power distribution box/engine compartment fuse box.
5. Measure voltage between breakout box terminal No. 9 and ground. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go
to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair Yellow/Light Green wire between ABS control module
and power distribution box/engine compartment fuse box.
6. Measure resistance between breakout box terminal No. 8 and ground. Also, measure resistance between
breakout box terminal No. 24 and ground. If both resistance measurements are less than 5 ohms, replace
ABS control module and repeat self-test. If either resistance measurement is greater than 5 ohms, repair
suspect Black wire between ABS control module and ground distribution.
NOTE: DTC B1676 will set if vehicle has been jump started.
