Question about 1999 Toyota Avalon

I installed a new key and tumbler in my 1998 toyota avalone took out the ingition fusle and started it to reset my anti theft system it start i drove it and now it will no start it triys but it wont turn over.

u can't what i did is i bring the lock cylinder to the lock smith, he change the inside so you can use the old key.
if you don't have the old key you to bring it to toyota so they can program the new key and it cost a lot

Reset anti theft


Have you tried leaving the key on for 15-20 min? I dont know if this works or your exact car and ut i know other gm cars can be reset this way

Ilost my keys, and had to have my car so i broke the ingnition houseing...to try and crank it...but when i try turning it over it is telling me something about the anti teft system and i should remove the...


you def messed up it needs the ignition key to bypass the theft system. without it you cant start it. replace the housing install a new ignition key and tumbler and have reprogramed to solve this problem

You may have a faulty ingition. Otherwise you have the very common GM anti-theft system. If you have a flashing anti-theft light with key in igniton, then this is what you should do:

Put key in ignition, turn to ON position (Do NOT Start)
Leave in on position for EXACTLY 10 Minutes
Then while watching the anti-theft light, as SOON as the light turns off after 10 minutes, START CAR IMMEDIATELY after light turns off.

This will reset the anti-theft
