Again, you can't. Don't tear up the column to try. You have to tow it to a dealer. It takes 2 keys to reprogram the security. They can cut the keys if the cylinder hasn't been replaced before. $400+. new cylinder $500+. Some lock smith's can do it. But not much cheaper. You save a tow bill.

CAN I put the new transponder key i gotcut at honda in RKE TRANSMITTER OUTLET TO PROGRAM it?

everything will more than likely need to be reprogrammed at the same time. contact a local locksmith that does automotive work. lock smiths are much cheaper and do just as good a job.

I accidentaly broke my key for my 2000 Ford Explorer, and I changed out the ignition and collumn the car turns over but it wont start. But my anti theft is activated .How do I disable or turn off the an

The old key may have an induction chip in to deactivate the anti theft system. Does it have a red insert (chip) in the key handle? Get the old key and place it as close to the ignition barrel as possible. Seen this done on a number of occasions to save paying for a key reprogram.

2001 taurus pats system needs reset, wont crank over.

You will need a key programmer to accept a new key into the ignition. If you have a registration and it's in your name then you goto dealer with identification and it's about 90.00 for a new key programmed. You could also buy the SB programmer from Ebay for about $80. but you would still need to cut a key. I used an ignition from a junkyard once and replaced it with that and then programmed that key but didn;t help with door locks so I had to program a FOB but that doesn't require the SB programmer only for the ignition key and had to program to the ECM. This was for a 2005 Accord but the process is the same if that is indeed a key with a transponder chip - not sure but believe it is.

I lost my keys to my 96' ford taurus if any body could help me with a low price in finding one

If you go to any Ford dealer with a picture ID, and ownership proof (Title), they can cut a duplicate key for your car. A simple one, without a chip on it, will cost you as low as $10. With this key you can unlock the door and get in your car. But there is a small problem. Your car key might have a chip on it.
For the 1999 model year, all Ford Motor Company vehicles equipped with the passive anti theft system will be using the PATS II system. The PATS II system was introduced on roughly half of the PATS equipped vehicles for the 1998 model year. The other half of the PATS equipped vehicles for the 1998 model year were equipped with the PATS I system. Many 2000 and later Ford Vehicles Use the E-PATS system, which uses an encrypted transponder in the key.
The Ford dealer will explain you if you need a simple $10 key, or a chipped one $50 key. If your key has a chip, then you have to reprogram it. Normally the dealer will provide you a written instruction how to do it.

Key will not turn in the ignition. some comments are hit it with a hammer or screwdriver. How do I hit it, on the back or the side of the key, and should i spray wd 40 in the ignition before inserting my...

What?? Hit it?? NO. This is actually a quite common problem with the focus. The ignition cylinder needs to be replaced. I realize this is more costly than hitting it with a hammer, but at least your car will start again at some point in time. I recommend going to the dealer, because of the fact that the removal of the steering wheel and pats module is necessary. Obviously, it will need to be towed. I hope for your sake you have AAA and you're 3 miles from a ford or LM dealer.

Key Does Not Work

It could be that chip inside key just went bad. Do u have a 3rd key? That works? If so take the 2 good keys and turn the igntion to run postion for 3 secs each then do the same for the 3rd key and this will reprogram it if the chip is ok. If you do not have 2 good keys then u will have to have a scan tool that will link up with PATS system and perform security access to reprogram it.

Lost my key for 1999 taurus with chip had a key made to get in

well if you are lucky check the owners manual when the car is new if i remember right there should be a pice of paper or somthing with the codes on it if not try asking a lock smith some times they can work wonders. Why its so much is because the key has a chip in it that when put in the ignition sends signal to the pats system so you cant steel the car. good luck.

Car still won't start

The taurus is equipped with what is called a PATS (passive anti theft) that wont let the car start until it recognizes the key in the ignition, some things to check, first when you put the key in and turn the car to run (not start) does the theft light blink fast in the dash or is there a red on light on the dash that starts blinking? if so it is a PATS problem, the only ones I know of that can program keys are dealers, if the car wont turn over it probably is not a fuel pressure issue, the most common thing would be the PATS keys either unprogrammed or somthing wrong with the module. hope this helps
