How to determine if a window switch is bad or if the relay is bad. Are there seperate relays for the up and down functions?

There will be three wires to the switch. with a tester, determine which is hot and jump to one lead then the other. If the switch is bad the window will operate. murf427

Ignition switch

My bet is the ignition switch itself or the connector on the switch is bad.
You say things seem to work when you move the wires. This is classic indication that the switch is bad.
Let us know if this fixes the problem. Robert

Please I need help. I have a,1995 geo prizm. I have replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel pu relay switch, temp sensor. Took it to a shop and hooked up to machine for check engine light and found out...

It's not really a switch. Below is a desciption of what the code means. In about 50 percent of the cases it's a bad connection which is causing the failure and there are many tests to check different circuits. In order to rule out the ignitor here is a quick test you can do. Below is a picture of a breakdown of you distributor (yes the ignitor is in the distributor). Take the distributor cap off. Using a digtal volt meter check with your postive probe the black wire terminal connected to the ignition coil and ground the negative probe to a good grouns like the battery. Make sure you are getting at least 10 to 12 volts. If you are check the connection at the brown and black wire between the coil and the ignitor and make sure all is good (like good continuity) If all is good, chances are the ignitor is faulty. If you are not getting the voltage on the first test right at the black wire terminal at the coil the coil could be faulty. As I said it's a 50/50 thing on this code as far as wiring or a componant such as the coil or ignittor. I have found in the past that in most cases if say a coil or ignitor goes bad, it's just bad and you end up in a no start situation but there are those odd cases that outside temps effect everything like engine heat or a componant over heating.Hope this helps and good luck.

Took the wires off the switch and put power to the wires and the heat came back on. so i figured the switch was bad but got a new switch and replaced it but still no heat

Hello craig. What you now know is that the heater is working. Now you will have to see what else is in that circuit negatively affecting the heat. I suspect that it is the thermostat or a relay gone bad. To be certain, you can use the trial and error method or you could do this. Look in the yellow pages for the nearest autoelectric repair shop. These shops have data bases of all vehicle wiring diagrams plus diagnostic equipment which enable them to pinpoint problems in a hurry.

I believe the autoelectric repair shop would be a good bet for you. They can identify the problem for you so that you are not buying unnecessary parts. You can install the parts and you will know you are on target. Joe

Thanks for choosing Fixya!

I have 2002 infinity I35 and the blower motor stop working ,I took out the blower motor to make sure was good. YES the blower motor still working .the only think I really don't know how to check is Blower...

WELL YOU HAVE TO USE A VOLT METER CONNECT ONE VOLT METER WIRES TO GOOD GROUND AND THE OTHER VOLT METER WIRES GOES TO EACH SWITCH SPEED.IF VOLT METER GET VOLTAGE A 1 OR 2 CONTROL SPEED RESISTOR BAD.IF RESISTOR BAD YOU WILL GET 1 OR 2 BLOWER MOTOR SPEEDS.IF BLOWER MOTOR WORKING.CHECK THE AC AND HEATER CONTROL SWITCH FUSE OR CHECK BLOWER MOTOR FUSE AND RELAY.IF ALL GOOD SO FAR CONTROL SWITCH ITSELF COULD BE FAULTY.

2008 jeep patriot wiring has gone haywire. took

Open the power distribution center box near the battery and remove the asd relay that should shut it down. as for the problem itself, it could be a bad relay, a bad ignition switch or some odd ball thing that needs testing to find.
Good luck!

My back windows won't go back up... Is it a fuse?

this might be hard to explain,
since you have the door panels off,you a test light at the window rocker switch, one wire will be hot all the time, probe one of the other wires with the test light and try the switch up and down, one wire will have power when you try the up position and the other will have it only in the down position, if this check shows no power to one side of the switch, your problem is the switch. if you get power to both wires up and down your problem is the motor.
