Question about 2005 Hyundai Tucson

1 Answer

'05 Tucson 2.7 V-6, 93K, engine shut down at hwy speed, cruising at 75 mph. Is there a thermal switch on the fuel pump or fuel rail? Very hot weather (115) and low fuel tank may have contributed. After sitting 30 minutes, removed fuel cap to check for excess pressure ,restarted fine. Now running normal. No further problem. Mechanically sound, maticulously maintained. Other than this one issue, everything has been great since it was new.

2005 Hyundai Tucson jerking in park and when coming to a stop light. Jeep runs rough and sometimes shuts off when making hard left or right turns. Could smell exhaust gas.

you have clogged fuel injectors, take it to a dealership only! they are the only place that has the proper set up to clean them. My 89 Mustang GT had the exact same problem and ford service center cleaned them for $80 and it was 100% better never had another problem, sold the car at 276K miles and it still ran perfect with no drips or leaks, the tranny finally went out. Never use those cleaners sold at stores they do more harm than good! they will void your warranty also.

the most likely is the fuel pump, which doesn't set a code when it fails. The fuel pump relay may be getting hot and shutting down. Check the filter also. God-Bless!

If you think the fuel pressure is ok, it could be something electrical such as the coil breaking down when it gets hot.

if you already replaced the fuel filter, it could be low fuel pressure to engine from a bad fuel pump. check the fuel pump relay first ! it could be getting hot and shutting down. check the fuse too. and run some good injecter cleaner in it, the injecters might be clogging up. good-day !

have fuel pump pressure checked 50-60 Psi at idle 60PSI with vac line diconnected from pressure regulator. If that checks out check for ingation switch failier may be keeps car power on but telling ecm that it has been turned from run. Also have a wave form done on fuel pump as it can still have good pressure but not be fully funtional elctricly. if you have acsses to a tech 2 have it checked for codes as it may not have turned on the light but may have stored a code
