ive had the same problem,, but mine also has no shift pattern sometimes. sometimes i can be idling and my speedo is all over the charts. three people told me to replace the speed sensor. it had one 12mm bolt attaching it, but it is in a stupid spot tucked behined the mounting bracket on the left side with two wiress coming from it. I just held the tranny up and dropped the whole cross meber. but I dont think that is necessary. you can most likely get at it with an open end wrench. you gotta have faith!! burns-

Check your idle speed control valve situated at the bottom of the throttle body. Sometimes the valve sticks and will make the engine rev high or low at idle and the ECU can't adjust it properly.

if yours is like my dodge..the sensor under the car went bad..mine is hard to get to .. its on the final-drive housing of the transmission..a transmission shop can change it for you cheaper than the dealercan..my dodge is a hooptie so I have been running it without a speedometer for 5 years now,,300,000 plus and still going..
