Lift gate will not power down to closed when button on gate or remote is pushed. Lights do flash though.

There are switches on both ends of the course of the motor, if one fails it will only work on the side that´s ok. That´s why it opens but do not close.Check it out.

Trouble opening lift gate in 2012 Equinox computer saying rear door open

Hey Karen,

That lift gate has a control module that controls the operation.
It communicates with the latch and other body modules

If the info display is indicating it is open when you know it is indeed shut.....I would suspect the latch assembly. There is a micro switch in the latch that informs the module when the gate is closed.
A scanner is actually the best most efficient way to diagnose this issue. A good independent garage should be able to scan for you for a fee. It will be worth the fee. Also...the lift assist struts are problematic on this particular vehicle. They assist in opening and keeping the lift-gate open.

The gate opens only halfway what is wrong

Hi,
Please explain....which 'gate' the one w/the spare tire or the rear hatch or something else? If the rear hatch is the issue it's likely the rear strut supports that hold up the hatch are worn out. They can be bought from local auto parts stores...look on Youtube on how to replace them.

The fan belt comes off every time it rains and I lose cotrol of my car and I am not strong enough to steer it help!

The tensioner pulley is bad. The spring is worn so it is sitting on a slight angle. If you open the hood and get a flashlight, look at the pulley on the engine side. You will notice that there is a clean spot on the pulley where the belt used to sit. Now it's probably even with the outer edge. It's acting like it's cone shaped, so when you hit a puddle it slides off the smaller end of the cone (away from the engine) and coming off. If I've helped, please rate my assistance and leave a comment to help others locate this information in a similar situation. Thank you and Happy Holidays.

I just replaced my starter but it makes an ugly sound. i tried shims, still makes the sound

Hello,
There are a couple things that can make starters noisy. Check the flywheel teeth for worn or damaged teeth. Next check the nose cone bushing on the starter. Alot of remanufacturing plants or Shops don't replace bushings. I have encountered this many times and it's fairly easy to do. The nose cone is the aluminum end ov the starter. you remove the solenoid and the two bolts at the back of the starter and the nose cone will come off.once it is off look at the very end of the nose cone and notice the bushing if worn will be oblong in shape. A new repair kit is less than $20.00 from auto zone and includes bushings and brushes and bendix gear.
I know cause I just used one of their kits to rebuild my starter.

No spool and wastegate wont open

I dont think anyone can hear the wastegate open. It opens when there is overboost and just routes exhaust around the turbo You may have heard the over boost valve open and release pressure., but normally, it doesnt open unless there is a problem with the waste gate. Its like a back up in case the waste gate is bad, or disconnected. Does the engine have the same amount of power as it always has? If so everything should be OK.

Loose steering tire wabbles

Unless your entire rack is loose, there's nothing you can tighten, but it sounds like you have a wheel problem, more than a steering problem. It's either out of balance or the rim is bent. Try putting your spare tire on that one, and see if the problem persists. Even if your steering is out of whack completely, it won't cause a vibration... just bad steering.
