Check to make sure it is not misfiring. A misfire can make the engine vibrate too much when in gear or not in gear,Then check or replace ALL your motor mounts and transmission mount, there are 3 to replace. Make sure to replace them Kia brand mounts because after market ones will not help much !

2001 kia sephia if the knock sensor is bad will it make the engine tap ?

It sounds like valve clatter. If you are also noticing black smoke from the exhaust, diminished engine response, etc then it has a faulty valve. I have to be honest. The Kia you have is not known as a good car. It was made before Hyundai took over for quality control. I would seriously consider selling the car while it still runs. I am sorry for this answer, but I own a 2012 Kia Optima and have heard service writer horror stories on the Sephia. Again, I apologize for my recommendation.

OIL DIPSTICK SMELLS LIKE GAS

If you smell gas in your engine oil, it can be a sign of a number of problems. The problem can be caused by cold weather preventing the excess fuel to not be burned.Engine problems will need to be diagnosed by a mechanic. The one quick fix you can do until then when you smell gas in your engine oil is to change the oil right away.

Kia sephia - low compression what does that mean?

Engine rings or valves no longer hold enough compression due to excessive engine wear.

97 kia sephia smokes when first starts, smells like exhaust smoke

Black smoke is fuel.
Blue is oil.
White is coolant / water.

Fuel is caused by timing and cold start system and requires some discussion to clarify.

Oil burning only on start is caused by failing rings on your cylinders. Oil then enters the combustion chambers and burns when you start the engine. If it continues to burn when running in particular when you accelerate it will also indicate ring/cylinder failure. It can also be from a failing head gasket where oil travels from the lubrication system into the combustion chamber. Some of the anti smoke additives available at the auto supply store do help.

I doubt you are seeing white as you say is smells like exhaust. White is coolant in the combustion chamber or exhaust system.

Hope this helps you.

2000 KIA SEPHIA leaking.

you should always put water in a overheated car with the motor running sounds to me like cold water in hot engine syndrome unfortunately this is fatal to the motor most likely cracked heads
