The engine will fit but the accessory's. Just make sure you have the same engine which is the L36. if you can get a L26 which would be the years 2005 to 2008 from a Buick LaCrosse, that would be a better investment since it has the aluminum upper intake and stronger connecting rods which is the only physical changes to the engine. The compression ratio is still the same at 9.4:1 but with the stronger rods, you can put a simple 6 pounds of boost out of a turbo and get another 90 HP with an inter cooler, looking at 285 HP with a 330 pounds of torque running on 91 octane. sounds like you have a severe vacuum leak, causing a lean condition. The car runs for a short period because of the rich mixture the computer provides for cold start-up.

SOURCE: buick 3800 wont start help
Change plugs check wires for correct connection. Check pcv for vacuumn leaks. Starter fluid on mass air flow meter may damage it.

take the cover off the top and it will be a pain in the rear, 3 up front you cannot see and 3 in the back you cannot see.....might take it to a professional, or a trusted someone
