WHY WONT MY 99 CHEVY CAVALIER 2.2L ACCELERATE? WHEN DRIVING IN SNOW AND MY TIRES SPIN, TRAC LIGHT COMES ON AND I CANT ACCELERATE/LOSE POWER. IS THIS NORMAL WHEN TRAC CON ENGAGES OR IS SOMETHING WRONG?

FIRST TIME IN THE SNOW WITH THIS CAR. WHEN STEPPING ON GAS PEDAL AND THE TIRES HAPPEN TO SPIN, MY TRAC LIGHT COMES ON AND MY ENGINE LOSES COMPLETE POWER/ WONT ACCELERATE. I CAN HAVE THE PEDAL FLOORED AND STILL NOTHING. ONCE MY WHEELS STOP SPINNING OR GET SOME TYPE OF TRACTION DOES MY ENGINE REGAIN ALL POWER. NOT SURE IF THIS NORMAL WHEN TRACTION CONTROL ENGAGES OR IF THERE IS A REAL ISSUE HERE.

That's normal operation for automatic traction control.

Very common problem with GM vehicles. It's usually caused by a bad wheel speed sensor. Get the trouble codes read so you know which wheel is causing the problem. Then do the diagnostic. Getting the trouble code is ALWAYS the first step.

It is not anything with the transmission itself. it is your throttle position sensor, sometimes after driving at a steady speed and then coasting it loses its mind a little. You get the trac light and then it wont shift properly unless you shut the car off and restart it then everything is ok because the computer resets. It is fairly easy to replace.

The trac low light comes on when i am driving on dry roads and then it wont go past 20 mph, also the battery light will comes on sometimes when it happens.

Sounds like an electrical problem. Find the fuse for the trac system and get rid of it. Just disabling that system is a good way to solve the problem.

Hello, my 2001 chevy cavielier, has a low trac light on? What is this all about?

that is your traction control, it is telling you that it is off, meaning if you floor it the tirse will spin (burn out) there should be a button I do believe is in the glove compartment to turn it back on, when you turn it back on when you floor it the tires won't spin.

I have a camaro and the light of low trac comes on so i want to know what it is

Low traction means the the on-board computer has detected that one or more tires are rotating at a different speed.

If this is occuring randomly, or constantly, you have a problem, that on a camaro (I assume a 2010) should be under warranty.

If this only occurs when you are burning rubber and impressing the ladies in the car next to you, then you are creating the problem by spinning the drive tires at a different speed than the other tires.

If you are driving in ice, snow, rain, etc., it could just be doing its job. Normally, when this occurs, one or more things should occur:
Brakes will be applied to the offending wheels to slow their spin or the engine rpms will be limited until the tires are all spinning at same RPMs.

What does trac off light refer to? service engine and trac off light comes on.

Trac is the control that doesnt let your tires spin when they are not making contact with the road. Just by having your emergency brake on will light up the trac light. It also come on with your abs. If you driving on a slick road and you jam on your brakes and the tires slide a little mine will say low track on my car.
