I have a 2005 chevy cavalier that the clutch pedal will not always come back up. i have to take my foot and bring it back up. no sign of fluid leak.

You do have a hydraulic pressure issue, likely air is getting into the system but fluid is not yet leaking out that you see or it is leaking inside the engine/transmission bell housing.

A mechanic I used to take my car to told me that I didn't have to change the transmission fluid in my 2005 Chevy Cavalier. I have doubts as to whether this is true or not. When it runs, it sounds a bit...

These vehicles do require transmission fluid changes, but at a higher mileage. In fact some models come without a transmission fluid dipstick to check the level. It is recommended that when transmission fluid change service is performed, that a fluid evacuation/fill machine be used, commonly known as a transmission flush.

Where do I check the transmission fluid

Hi, follow the detailed instruction below on how to check the Transmission fluid on your Chevy Cavalier 2001.
  1. Turn the Cavalier on and put it in neutral. Make sure your hand brake is engaged to keep the car from moving while you work on it. Open your car's hood so that you have access to the engine.
  2. Look for your Cavalier's transmission dipstick. It should stick out from the body of the engine, and be clearly labelled as "transmission fluid." Refer to your Cavalier's owner's manual for a diagram of engine parts if you have trouble locating the dipstick.
  3. Pull the dipstick out and clean it off with a rag. Reinsert the dipstick and pull it out again. Check the end of the dipstick for your reading; the transmission level will be measured on the dipstick by labels like "low," "medium" and "high." If your dipstick has no fluid on it, it means that your Cavalier is almost out of transmission fluid and needs more. A low reading also indicates a need to add more fluid. If the fluid is low, add a bottle of transmission fluid, available for purchase at auto supply shops. Add fluid and repeat this process until your dipstick shows a reading of "high" or "full."

Where is the dip stick for the trans fluid located? Automatic trans is shifting hard. 2005 Chevy Cavalier.

this model has a sealed transmission, there is no dipstick, the dealer has a special tool for checking the level at a plug just over the driver side axle.

No motor manual what type of transmission fluid is recommended

Check with chevy a dealership service (phone call) , there are 2 different types if your car is an automatic. If your car is a standard , it could be gear lube , or even Automatic trans fluid.

1995 chevy cavalier transmission cycles from 2 to drive

Might need trans fluid or could have a bad servo in the valve body which would mean trans. work.
