For the handle. Pull it back, on the front there will be a slot or set screw in the front. Set screw takes an allen wrench to loosen. Slot, insert a small flat screw driver and push in and pull up. To remove the shifter , you have to remove the console first. Screws and bolts could be(I do to many, I just know where to look). Panels under the dash, under cup holder mats, remove the box and lid, some under them. At the back, remove the blower vent or cover. and on the sides, you have to move the seats forward to get to them. then 4 bolts to remove and the wires and cables.

You have a manual transmission. I was talking automatic. With this I have seen 2 types. First there is a plate on top of the transmission with bolts to remove. Usually a plate to remove on the floor board. The other is a shear pin to push out. These are bit harder to remove at top. Use a dowel punch to get them out so far. Then takes pliers or vise grips to get them all the way out.

I have a 02 saturan l200 and the shift stick broke off from place where the gears are. I know it sounds confusing but I don't know the name of all the parts. Can anyone help me

Pull up on the shift lever boot to disengage from the console. The shift lever boot is rubber or leather or some other material !
Using a small screwdriver, remove the lever assembly retaining clip.
Remove the lever assembly ! I know this may sound complicated but it's real easy ! The shift leaver goes to a shift linkage that goes to the gear box !

Where do I find engine and chassis numbers on a 2008 mitsubishi l200....

The typical location of a Mitsubishi Identification plate, is usually found under the hood, riveted to the firewall (below the windscreen).

The plate will display all detail you require.
