There are no points, the ignition is electronic, and is controlled by the ECU,

The plugs are gapped to 0.8 mm

What should the spark plug gap be set to?

the spec is .043", for both the V6, and the Inline 4. The theory behind enlarging gaps, is that a larger gap creates a larger spark, thus more effecient ignition. The problem is, your ignition system was designed for the .043" spark plug gap, not larger. Enlarging the gap puts a greater strain on your ignition system components, and it may not be strong enough to jump a larger gap. The result would be less efficient combustion, or a cylinder(s) that won't fire at all. Pull your plugs, and set them at .043". Check the distributor cap, rotor, wires, and your filters. Make sure the car is totally warmed up before the smog test. Good luck.

Start with .4 (0.0157) And adjust up or down for best performance. It depends if you are looking for best fuel consumption or more horse power. Also make sure that your ignition timing angle matches the point gap. Have a good time

What is the spark plug gap measurement for a Toyota Corolla AE101?

Hi Noel and Hi Ruth, Depending on the engine fitted to your Corolla, you may need to fit double electrode plugs which are pre set. Most reputable plug manufactures preset the gaps these days, but in the event that they are single electrode and need resetting, go for one millimeter. Regards John

How to I change the plugs in my 93 Toyota Corolla DX Hatchback

pull the plugs off of the plugs one wire at a time.not all at the same time.with one wire disconnected use a plug socket of the proper size,5/8",i believe and extension and ratchet in 3/8 drive, remove the plug make sure the plug gap is set correctly before installing the plug then tighten the plug by hand until it is a little more than snug not too tight then install the plug wire and move to the next plug in line.the plug gap should be on a decal under the hood that will have the spec on it.
