You have to take the new key and the car to a service center to have them reprogrammed together

Where is the anti theft module located at in a 2005 Kia Sedona? Van won't start and read online a lot of complaints about Kia vehicles is the anti theft module kept the vehicle from starting.

The anti-theft function is part of programing in the ECU. there is no external module. The ignition switch is not reading the key. Do not hang a bunch of trinkets and keys from your key ring. 2 keys at the most. See if the dealer can make you a new key. You may have to replace the ignition switch as well. Perform OBDII scan for anti-theft codes.

I have a 2008 equinox anti theft doesnt work and starter will not engage

Anti theft is working and that's why starter isn't engaging. This may work. Turn key on and leave on for 10 minutes. Turn off for 10 minutes. Turn on and wait for security light to go off. Then try to start car. This process works on most GM vehicles that have forgotten the key.

My 2008 Mercury Milan has the anti-theft light on.Bought a new key,did the 8 turns on the ignition to reprogram and still wouldn't work.

NOTE: A minimum of 2 PATS keys must be programmed into the instrument cluster before the vehicle will start.
NOTE: This procedure works only if 2 or more programmed ignition keys (they do not have to be integrated keyhead transmitter [IKT] keys) are present. If 2 programmed passive anti-theft system (PATS) keys are not available, refer to Integrated Keyhead Transmitter (IKT) Key Programming Using Diagnostic Equipment in this section.

Why doesnt my 2000 chevy impala have injection pulse

your anti theft device is activated, you need to lock and unlock your doors a couple times with the key fob,not the key,and then you need to put the key in the ignition and start it,if you dont have your key fob, call your car dealer to get a new one, they are programmed for each car only, you cannot bypass it.

Battery was dead and now the centre dash board and gear selector lights do no come on at night, I also have the anti theft light flashing which it never used to do.

Does this vehicle start? I had this happen in a 2001 Ford Freestyle. The battery was defective / deader than dead. AAA came out to jump it but nothing worked except the anti theft light that flashed, double speed if you turned it to crank, (Which it wouldn't) I had it towed to Walmart to replace the nearly new battery but it still wouldn't start. I called AAA back to tow it to the Ford dealer where I had to pay $65.00 to get the anti theft key/s and computer reset. I said "key/s" because they didn't tell me that I needed my wife's key because you can't just program ONE key. So either I pay a taxi for a 24 mile round trip or I pay an extra $20.00 for a new anti theft key. After that. I had 3 keys to that van. To make a long story short, Have BOTH keys with you when you take it to be reprogrammed.

Changed ignition in a 1998 chevy malibu and the car will start then it will stall like it locks up but when u turn key off then try an start it it does the same thing it has a p-1626and a p-1610 codes when...

If you replaced the lock cylinder and it came with a new key, and the car has a factory anti-theft system, the new key has to be programed to the anti-theft module. If the new key does not have a small + sign stamped into it, it does not have the transponder built into it and you will need a new key that has the transponder and have it programed. Just cutting a copy of the key is only half the job Usually they will not start at all...that's the whole point of the anti-theft thing. The codes will not reset because the problem has not been fixed. Most locksmiths can do this for about fifty bucks, but not a hardware store that makes keys, or yes...the dreaded Chevy dealer. Your code reader does not have this programing capability.

The problem we are having is that when we turn our 2008 Equinox off the key will stick sometimes where we can not remove the key. What would be causing the key to stick when you turn the car off?

Your Ignition switch cylinder is bad. You have a fairly new car and it may still have some Warranty left. Then there could be a Service Bulletin for extended coverage if this problem is common. Check with the Chevy Dealer first before spending your own money.
