2nd option that car isnt using idling screw but got electronic idling sensor that corperate with an autogearbox.when you engage Drive the sensor sent signal to pcm for a load, immediately the pcm advance the fuel to higher rev according to engine load.

Throttle assembly

Hi Jimmy ! THE PROBLEM YOU ARE FACING MOSTLY IS ON THE THROTTLE BODY . IS GOOD IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU WILL DO BY REMOVING THE THROTTLE BODY FROM THE ENGINE. JUST GIVE IT A GOOD CLEANING BY USING A CARBURRETOR CLEANER-CLEANING THE THROTTLE ITSELF AND ALSO IF YOU CAN CHECK THE IDLE SPEED CONTROL WHICH IS UNDER THE THROTTLE BODY ( ONE UNIT) STRIPPED BY FOUR SCREWS, CLEAN AND REFITTED.

Engine starts and idles okay but it hardly runs at constant speed but if you floor it it runs fine while floored

In the throttle body is a Throttle Position Sensor (TPS). I would start by replacing that. It is not difficult to remove, but use caution not to strip the heads of the two screws. If you do strip the screws, you can cut the heads of the screws off with a file, remove the TPS, then use a pair of pliers to grab the posts of the screws and back them out.

Hope this helps,
Rob

Replace windshield wiper arm on driver side-screw is stripped. can i do this on my own with basic tools? single mom

Is the screw stripped or the stud the arm goes down on? Also why do you think the screw is stripped? Reason I ask is, I can't see the problem but just wondering if the inside of the arm is stripped and giving you the impression the screw is stripped. I assume that you bought another and installed it and stripped the stud? If you can give me some details like what happened to strip the screw/stud.

I have a 1988 carburetor that has a cloged idle jet and I need to unclog it How do I do it? What is the best way to do that?

unscrew the idle mixture screw, count the turns, blow down hole with compressed air, rescrew screw back in.if it works,ok.if it doesnt work, youll have to strip carbie and clean it inside, jets, galleries, everything thoroughly.may need new gasket set.lay it all out carefully,on large sheet of newspaper,.if two barrel, dont get jets mixed up from one barrel to the other..have clean container of petrol to rinse and wash each part.use fine wire to clean any jets/air bleed holes etc..blow dry bits away from work place..use widest screwdriver blade that will fit, saves damaging jets[in fact, buy a new set of screwdrivers]

My 1978 nova shuts of every stop sign, so i have to double feet it and break and acclerate to keep it running, is there any way i can stop that from happening, I put 200 dollars worth fixing the carb and...

the problem is the carb for sure ,the idle jet is blocked ,take carb off the engine and strip and clean ,whilst its stripped drop it into a bucket of weak caustic solution for a few hours ,yes i know its not in the haynes manual but it can and often does work wonders ,also check the CO2 when you do get running so its below 2 on the meter for the emmisions test

MECHANIC STATING DISTRIBUTOR PLATE STRIPPED BUT STATING THAT ENTIRE DISTRIBUTOR NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND ROTOR IN PIECES AND CANNOT BE BOLTED DOWN TO THE PLATE. HOW WILL I KNOW THIS IS CORRECT

The OEM distributor is plastic and the screws will strip if they over tighten the screws, they should not strip on there way out so if there is any stripping. It's caused by shops negligence, screws don't strip on there way out or on there own. You can use an over size screw to secure the distributor cap down and problem solved. If you are gong to replace the distributor, replace it with the upgraded distributor with the aluminum distributor. Here is a link for that product.

2000 Avalon won't start and idle. Only while foot is on the gas

Avalons are prone to the the throttle body and Idle control valve getting gunked up over time. I took mine off, spent about 45 minutes cleaning it well with carb cleaner and q tips, and reinstalled. I haven't had the problem since. It is relatively easy, the hard part is not stripping the screws. Everthing is righ on top of the engine, not a hard repair. Mine did not have the smoke issue, however, it would start but would die as soon as you let off the gas.

Can anyone tell me how to fix this problem

if its a carb model you might need to strip and refurb the carb if not buy a second hand one they are pretty cheap or it could be a choke problem
