Yep, black plastic, with silver chip in the middle is a resistor. The one on top has a chip in the lockset . If the one on bottom is the original, the one on top won't work. And vise versa. One is passlock, the other is passlock II.

SOURCE: how to replace a coolant level sensor, 2000 buick century

The coolant level sensor is located on the radiator. If you are looking at the engine from the front of the car it will be on the left side. There will some kind of clip holding it in the radiator. Removed the clip and pull the sensor out. You will lose coolant so try to swap it out quick or drain some of the coolant out. Once new sensor is installed, install clip to keep the sensor in place and reconnect the wires to the sensor. Crank the engine and make sure the coolant level is full. This should correct your problem.

SOURCE: odometer light out on buick century not working

Sadly no, there is no fuse or bulb to replace. You either have to send the instrument cluster out for repair or replace it with a new unit from the dealer. You could also obtain a serviceable one from a salvage yard. Most shops should be able to replace the instrument cluster or advise who can repair it.

SOURCE: 2000 Buick Century gas gauge reads full all the time

You're either looking at a short in the wire that goes to the fuel sender, or a bad fuel sender. If it was just a broken wire, it would read empty instead. The fuel sender is a permanent part of the fuel pump, so that has to be replaced as a unit.

Security. Reset is turn the key on for ten minutes, off for thirty seconds. Try to start. Relearn is three times this. Try to start after the third. No start s usually wiring to the ignition chip. Wires break.

your anti theft device is activated, you need to lock and unlock your doors a couple times with the key fob,not the key,and then you need to put the key in the ignition and start it,if you dont have your key fob, call your car dealer to get a new one, they are programmed for each car only, you cannot bypass it.

On a Buick Century what does it mean when the security light comes on while driving 2000 century?

In most cases the light comes on when there is a problem with the chip in the key or the sensor in the key lock. If the warning light comes on or blinks when you are cranking the engine, the car will not start.

Vats

Either get another key cut or bypass the vats system. I had a small shop cut the key for me. They said that they couldn't do vats keys, I taught them how to and they cut the key for free(I ordered my blank on ebay). Here is a link with some info: http://vats.likeabigdog.com/

My security check light is on

It means the security (VATS) system does not "see" the chip in your key. You may be trying to steal the car with a phony key.
The problem could be the chip in the key, the sensor in the lock cylinder, or the VATS module.
It may become unable to crank.

How to reset security on 2000 buick century

If the anti-theft module does not read the right chip in the key, the engine will not crank.
That would be a problem with the chip in the key, the sensor in the lock cylinder, or the module.
If it cranks but does not start, its probably not the security system.
