Question about 1972 Chevrolet Corvette

1 Answer

I arked the battry cables and lost power in my 1977 corvette

I had to jump off my car and the pos slipped off and hit the negative while I was jumping it off. I still have some power but lost my pwr windows, speedometer, my generator light stays on, and I have no interior lights. I have looked for a fuesable link near the starter, but I can't really find it. Somone told me that the wire would look melted if that was the case, but I have not found a melted wire. Anymore suggestions.

How do you give a jump start to someone using a 2007 Dodge Charger?

The underhood connections can work by themselves...POS to POS, and NEG to NEG...sometimes dirty/weak connections do not allow the power to transfer fully from the underhood connections...if this is the case then you need to connect directly to the battery in trunk for full power charge...again POS to POS, and NEG to NEG...hope this helps

I used my Stanley Fat Max 450 Amp Jump Start System with Compressor 900 Peak Battery Amps to jump start a vehicle and accidently crossed the negative to the positive and positive to the negative. After...

I would imagine an item from a company such as this has a fuze or such to prevent damage from cross connection. The pop you heard is probably an internal fuze or overload unit going off.
They are online at samsclub for 39$ if you can't fix it.

Tried to jump start 94 chevy corvette and accidentally placed the negative cable on the positive terminal and vice versa. Got a new battery, but it only turns over. SYS flashing on dash screen. Help!

check to make sure no wires are melted apart. and also check fuses. espesially the main fuse. check the voltage from alternator to battery, it should be 14 to 14.3 when running. battery voltage should be about 13 volts when engine is off.

Tried to jump my 2003 galant and the cables would spark when trying to connect negative

Be ceratin you have jumper cables to correct terminals. Also, you may connect both jumper cables to the battery of the car your getting power from (be certain not to let other ends of cables touch) connect the positive lead of car being jumped to the battery's positive terminal, then connect the negative lead to the cars ground, not directly to the negative on the battery. Getting a spark when jumping is very common. You do not want to create the spark at the battery because the fumes from the battery acid can be explosive...... That can go very bad! When removing remove the grounded, to the jumped car, and then carefully remove the rest. Again be certain to not let the leads touch.

Please let me know if this had assited you,

Thanks,
Tom

Stored my 1989 corvette for the winter. Just tried to start it, and the battery is dead. I jump started the car and it ran for about 7-8 minutes and then shut off. Had to re-jump and again, car won't

At first blush, sounds like corrosion on the battery cables either at the battery or at the other end at the alternator or starter. There are several sprays at the auto parts store that will clear the corrosion but the best way is to remove the cables and clean both the cable ends and the posts. Once you're able to rule out the cables/connections having the charging system checked would be next point of order but its more likely to be the cables. A car that won't run on it's own isn't getting enough power from the alternator so I'd check the negative cable first.

Seems like battery is dead

Should be safe to jump just make sure you find a good ground for negative cable instead of battery. And in the correct order.

Where is negative connection for battery on 2006 dodge charger srt8

Also, to add to some mild confusion, the terminals under the hood on the charger are just there for a jump, thus there is only a positive terminal. The battery is actually stored in the trunk next to the spare.
