98 Olds Lss no heat from front vents

The front defrost, vents and ac buttons seem to be mixed up. Air conditioning comes out the defrost and no air at all from the vents in front seat area. Now no heat in front and only in the back seat area.

SOURCE: 98 Olds LLC - AC works but fan air does not blow

If you have a late model GM car and the system is controlled electronically the blend door actuator becomes weak. When this situation occurs it will not move the air direction door inside of the heater/air conditioner plenum. in your case not to the vents Replace the actuator with new and recheck the system. i hope this helps

SOURCE: 91 ciera only does defrost, no vents or AC

Sure it stops blowing when you turn it off because the off switch still works. that part of the system is totally separate. The blower speed is a seperate circuit from the heat, vent, defrost, and recirculate circuit. Where the hot air blows from is decided by little doors that redirect the warmed air from the blower. Those circuits are vacuum operated according to Ottawa. So it makes sense that you either have a very bad vacuum leak or you might have a bad vacuum motor. A good mechanic should be able to find the problem in a short amount of time.

SOURCE: where is the blend door actuator on a 88 olds 98 regency brougham and what does it look like

The system in your car is all vacuum controlled so the first this you need to do is locate the main vacuum source under the hood. It is normally located on the passenger side near the firewall. You may see a plastic ball shaped canister or it could be square. Make sure that device has vacuum going to it from the engine

2001 volvo s40- When defrost is chosen on control, the AC light comes on and the air exits the front vents. Very little air exits the defrost ducts on wnshield

I am not an expert of Volvo's but what you describe is normal operation for most cars. If hot air was directed at a very cold windshield it could crack it. So when you kick it over to defrost, the hot air is mixed with AC air and the amount of air flow is restricted so that it doesn't crack.

Did the operation of your Volvo defrost system seem to change all of a sudden and that is the reason you posted this? If so how did it change?

The air conditioning blows out of the defrost vents. It only works on high now but use to on low. It use to come out of the front vents ocassionally. We did replace the heater / air control unit in the...

Seems like the dampers are partically closed, look under steering column and see your duck work for the vent system.Follow it back to the blower box.Unhook if there, turn on ac, if you get full air, nice and cold on low and high you have blockage in your vent duct work, check the vent line that diverts air to the diffrent selected vents. Also check for vent disconnection around sterring column, and defrost vent area.

Heating / air conditioning control stuck to front defrost vents

There is a vacuum leak under the hood. Find the vacuum line on the passenger side where it comes through the firewall and follow it to the engine. You system needs vacuum to operate and without it the default setting is on defrost for safety reasons.
