SOURCE: rear door glass fell down, will not wind back up.

For a X reg (2000) Jaguar S- type: to remove the rear left winder mechanism do the following... Remove the door panel: remove two Philips Screws from under the small rubber mat in the door pull recess. Starting at top outer edge lever the panel away from door using something that does not damage the paint (I used a flat wooden spatula) - you will hear the poppers as they release the panel; work down and around the panel using your fingers. At some point the bezel around the door opening handle will become loosened and you need to carefully remove it - I found this awkward. Lift the panel upwards off the door and remove the cable that goes to the switches. Next remove the large access cover made of soft material stuck on with body putty and the circular sticky plastic disc covering a hole in the lower centre of the door. Remove the loudspeaker - four bolts into door metal and a cable. Remove the trim strip from the bottom edge of the window opening. Assuming the window can be moved slide it so the securing peg can be seen through the small hole uncovered when you removed the sticky plastic disk. It appears as two concentric circles of plastic, outside diameter about 1cm, with a hole through the middle. Knock out the middle peg with a punch of about 4mm dia. This will disappear into the door and will be needed later! Once the inner peg is removed the split outer peg can be pushed through releasing the window from the regulator mechanism. Pull the window all the way up and secure with duct tape to the side of the frame so it doesn't crash down. Remove three nuts securing the mechanism push it in to the door void and remove the electric plug. I did this through the speaker apperture and found it awkward to get out - patience is needed if yours is as difficult. Manoeuver the mechanism out through the access hole and survey the damage.

Have a 1988 kenworth t600 where the drivers side window is extremely difficult to close.opens easily.have the interior panel off but there is metal which prevents me from getting at or seeing the...

check the adjustment of the runners for the glass. see if when the window is down if there is any movement in the glass from front to back indication that the tracks are not parallel. If not this allows the regulator ( bit that controls the up/down action) to fall the glass forward and jams it in the tracks. The glass is coming down easily so there will not be a problem in the regulator ,just the alignment of the glass. The tracks are adjustable by a lock screw on the mount tag of the runner at the bottom of the track. make sure that the felt runner is in good condition . Use silicon spray to lubricate the tracks once you have checked the adjustment.

My 2008 Mitsubishi lancer cj my08 drivers side back door wont open from inside or outside. Small 1/4 window has been smashed and im guessing there might glass stuck in the locking mechanism but I dont know...

Wind the window down completely. You should be able to get a hooked wire down behind the glass to snag the lock mechanism. You could also call your auto club for assistance.

How do I get the sunvisors off so that I can put new material on the roof of my `996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo?

Remove the two screws located on the fulcrum bracket of the visor (they may be concealed by push caps), unclip it from it's catch, and pull the bracket down gently. Depending on the visor there may be wires still attached. Continue pulling the wire out of the hole until you see the connector and then disconnect it.

2001 oldsmobile aurora rear door driver side window glass falls down and does not work with the electric switch

If you can hear the motor running while pressing the window switch you may have a broken clip or something in the way causing the window to slip off track. If no sound comes while pressing the window button you may need a power window regulator motor "OR" the window button itself may need replacing. If the window was down when it stopped working and had to be manually rolled back up, this can cause the glass to randomly fall back inside the door. This is because the car thinks that the window is still down and will continue to fall until it tells the computer that the window was closed using the power window button. If the window falls at just the wrong angle you could end up having to replace the glass as well.

Ford focus rear window mechanism

Well, as outlined in the repair manual, both the door glass and the motorized quarter glass have hinges that are bolted to the body. Neither glass should "fall out". Sounds to me like the hinges are no longer securely attached to the glass. Take it to a glass shop or body shop to have it properly repaired.
