Hello Ray
1999 what jeep , they have names. what jeep.?
what works and what don't , can you drive it.
Seems for sure not at night with dim lamps.?
i can not understand those set if symptoms.
does car drive ok.? go 60 miles with head lights on and not stall? (tells me most the important stuff works)
Do you have a car say in CANADA, and with DRL lamps
Daylight Running lamps, (that love to fail )
Do the the head lights full bright all the time.
My guess is yes but not brakes.

is this a brake lamp only post. in that all other lamps work
and car drives perfectly?
when did car run perfectly as a daily driver? last week, last year?
i added punctuation to your post, did i get it right?'

if correct, then you mean that
only brake lamps fail at night, but not the center
and only fail head lamps on , like at night.
but not the head lamps dim.
IF DRL , you must say so. now. (bet USA CAR)

that does mean the grounds on the rear of car
are bad at the tail lamps. (any)
or the park feed to the rear is shorted
and overloads the parks.
try 2 new bulbs on the rear
bulbs with brass bases can short inside, where you can not see, a $2 fix. if true.
easy too. an covered in the operators guide.

too bad no car stated, no books to show you lacking that one fact.
Cherokee
grand?
wrangler
what?

If you have any extra fuses, try replacing the ones for the head lights and tail lights. Make sure the fuses you replace are the same color as the ones you replace them with, that way the voltages are the same. Another issue is that a flasher could be going out.

1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited - Break lights will work if the head lights are turned off, but when i turn the lights on the break lights won't work.

If you recently had a brake light bulb changed, you may have one or more brake bulbs installed wrongly on your jeep, shorting out when the lights are turned on.

99 JEEP BRAKE LIGHT WONT WORK..THIRD BRAKE LIGHT WORKS

on chrysler products the third brake light is run independant of the body control module, try checking the fuses that run the brake lights and see if any are faulty if not check you have voltage at the switch and a signal getting to the lights.

No tail lights only driverside brake light works

Test the connectors that the lights go in with someone applying the brake. These connectors are not very well made. You may need a new connector on the side that's not working.
