SOURCE: you drive this car 15 to 20 miles fine then it

I have done this work for 25 years and who ever he is that said the ECM may be bad is most likely incorrect, the ECM or computer is the last part that fails, the failure rate is about 2%, need to know the codes you have to give further assistance to you, thanks

SOURCE: Speedometer stuck at 20 miles an hour?

My 96 did the same thing. The speed sensor is and was fine -- the problem is an open circuit in the wires inside the gauge itself.

The Chilton's manual has pretty good instructions on how to replace the instrument cluster. You can buy just the speedometer gauge, or an entire instrument cluster for $100 or so on eBay. Just be sure you get a cluster that matches your model and trim line -- the LX and DX have different clusters, and of course the automatic and the 5-speed are different as well.

Do be sure to disconnect the battery before you begin the project, as there's a (slim) chance you can discharge the airbags if you don't

SOURCE: my car has been stalling by not exceeding 20 miles

Just curious about some more details. Will it idle at all? It's ok after 20 mph or higher rpm? Could be either a large vacuum leak or egr valve stuck open? Any more detail would be great.

Actually I was just wondering if there could be a reason that the ECM wouldn't be storing codes, because the real issue that I am having is stalling when the truck gets to operating temperature, but w

sounds like a blown head gasket. A compression check would be helpful. Steam from the exhaust would be another indicator, as would odd foamy yellowish oil on your dip-stick.

You never leave a car running, as it will
overheat the Exhaust Converter
When you run out of fuel, you sometimes
ruin the Fuel Pump
It depends on gas to lubricate it,as strange as it sounds
Check fuel pressure & volume at the motor with a gauge

1985 toyota 4runner running too lean

Maybe it's not running lean. Maybe it's misfiring. Since you put in new fuel parts and that didn't help, maybe there is an ignition component that fails when it gets hot. A bad coil can do this, also the igniter-rarely, admittedly, but you could have it tested. When it stalls and won't start, if you check for spark and find none, it would confirm an ignition problem.
I hope you find it. Post back and let us know.

My 1987 El Camino stalls when stopping at a stop light (below 5 miles per hour) after it has been driven 20 or more miles. It is equiped with a carberated 305 V8 with automatic transmission.. Starts up...

Does it feel like the engine is stalling or the transmission is not disengaging? You may have a transmission or toque converter problem. If it is your engine you may have an EGR valve issue or an Idle air control issue.

Engine light flashing...while accelerating...this started after I jumped someone off...car automatically shifts to 3 gear while im going 20 miles an hour...whats wrong...

Hello and welcome!

If the light is flashing, do not drive the vehicle. This means internal damage may occur. Could be having a misfire issue (usually casues the flashing light) which could be fuel or ignition (fuel being injector issue, ignition meanig spark plugs, plug wires or coils).
