Replace the ign lock cylinder and chip key, the wires have broken that activate the anti theft system.

Why doesn't it start?

Is it cranking ? if not you may want to check if the starter motor solenoid is getting proper voltage ... it should be 10v-12v .. if it is less than this range ... then try jump starting it battery is not providing enough voltage... if it is within range and still it wont crank .. replace the starter motor.

Could be a dead battery's or solenoid should have 2 batteries one or both could be bad solenoid is on the in fender you should see hot wires if it's bad sometimes you can turn the key on and jump the solenoid with pliers.

QUESTION: Without a jump, does the motor crank when you turn the key to "START"?

If you can jump start it, then you know you have spark, fuel and compression; you know your starter and ignition are fine.

My guess is a loose/missing connection at the positive battery terminal for your starter.

The problem i am having with my buick is that it will not turn over when the key switch is in the start position. I have changed the switch and it still wont turn over. It will start for a secound if i...

You are going to have to do some trouble shooting with a 12 volt meter. If you don't have one borrow one or buy one.Follow the positive wire from the battery to the starter solenoid.Check to see you have 12 volts going into the solenoid from the battery. If you don't the wire may be rotted out on the inside. Have someone advance the key and check to see if you have 12 volts going to one of the smaller wires on the solenoid when the key is turned. If there is a yes to both of these and the starter will not crank the engine over then I believe you have a bad starter solenoid and you will need to replace the starter/solenoid . The fact that it will crank the engine when you jump across the starter more or less cinches it for me. Good Luck

92 buick park ave security light on car wont start

Someone put the wrong key (resistor value) in the ignition lock, you will have to disconect the battery for 3 min. Make sure you have the right key. Very important! Make sure the climate control is off before disconecting/conecting the battery.
