What are codes 12,41,55 mean on a 1990 dodge dynasty

Code 12 is no matter, only means the battery has been disconnected within last 50-100 starts, erasing previous memory codes.

Code 55 is End of Message-no further codes stored.

Code 41 is Charging system circuit not responding to control signal. First thing to do is have the alternator tested. If it is good, you will need to diagnose the "control signal" coming from the engine computer to the alternator. It is a dark green wire. Better find a competent mechanic with a multi-meter.

I swap out the heater core and may hav installed the hoses wrong.I hooked up the hose from water pump to lower fitting and return hose on top fitting

It usually doesn't matter-it just circulates coolant through the core and returns it. But the hose going to the water pump is the return hose from the core. The other hose from the cylinder head or intake manifold is where the coolant comes from and going to the heater core. Take off the hose at the water pump and you will see a stream coming out with the engine running and the heater control on hot. Try this and if the stream is not good, try swapping the hoses at the core- I mean take the hose to water pump and fit it to the core's upper hose, and the inlet hose to the lower fitting. It shouldn't matter, but let us know.

What does the code P0446 onn a 2002 2.4l 4 cylinder Dodge Stratus SXT mean?

Generally in google search type obd2 then po446 or whatever and an obd2 site will come up w specifics for that code. Vehicle specific generally doesnt matter. typing odb2 before the code is important to find the right site. Refer to link for specifics or search using that format I suggested.

Engine light comes on then goes off

Codes generated by the ECM are stored, and can be retrieved.
Generally, though, a light coming on periodically usually means that you have excessive moisture (water) or other contaminants in your fuel. Easy fix: One bottle of fuel system water remover once every six months. (Any brand, does not matter. They all work the same.)

How to check the timing

depends what engine as to where the timing marks are to be honest ,and what you mean by checking the timing ,if you mean just the spark then is pre determined by the crank sensor so its not adjustable as such without access to special diagnostic software ,but if you mean the valve timing then even with no timing marks its relatively easy ,take no1 spark plug out then turn engine till the piston come to the top ,i use a long thing screwdriver for this down the plug hole ,then remove the rocker covers over no1 cylinder and look at the valves and the inlet should have just closed and exhaust is getting ready to open ,doesnt matter on make or number of cylinders this will work then with engine in this position you can look for any alignment marks like a slot on the back of the cam is level with head face or a notch on the cam that lines up with a slot on the cam cap or whatever system your engine uses ,but no matter what make or engine it is they work on the same principle from a Ford T to a jaguar or a lotus including a radial airplane engine .

You are correct! If there is no air coming out no matter what setting you have it on, this is caused by the blower motor being burnt out.

Have a good one!
